i might need to do this tomorrow morning, once more i succumb to the naptons. do a post with whitey and i'll have lainey meander by for some fun.

 

she could just be swinging by after her shift for a drink and a gossip. and to see erskin up and about and alive and not getting punched in the face by clowns, this has been a shitty week for everyone who cares about him.

 

ok i figure lainey will be escorted in if whitey agrees! i need to snooze now but i'm very interested in whitey's thoughts about her. also his feels under the influence.

eta: i think as much as lainey likes getting smashed with hotties, she'd find it a lot more fun to be the designated driver on this particular venture.

Erskin being an excellent mimic is a really fun aspect of his character to play with. A lot of the time he's mimicking Lainey, her breezy confidence, though he enjoys bigger words and more highblooded, lyrical turns of phrase than she does. She's pretty valley girl in my head. California Queen Casual. She runs the ship and can melt steel without breaking a sweat, she's not code switching for shit.

if erskin shows up with green nails to the next therapy thing, is jethro gonna go 'hngh' because that would be really cute. jethro is usually such a sturdy, sensible guy that it is extra darling when he is actually flustered.

'i'd gut you if i wasn't so darn rich' is definitely a heck of a beauty standard to aspire to.

 

also don't stick in bel, he's busy, erskin's just understandably enthusiastic about the thought of bel with sexy claws.

 

i was rereading a chunk and i noticed— whenever bel pressures erskin in the space navy AU for a commitment, he always slides out of it, and i don't think i was even doing this consciously. but, captain aspera is a glib bastard who never promises much of anything, it turns out, and i like that. bel is perfectly free to really really not like it.

 

it feels kind of absurd to start yet another AU but i keep thinking about the au where small erskin goes over to drop his antique swords with bel before he goes on his globetrotting adventures, and hence never goes on his adventures, and they have smol baby fights. it's just. super cute. and it'd be funny to have like the full spread of ages erskin and bel's lives intersect at, like, childhood, late teens, adulthood. also: smol baby fights. also: erskin completely undaunted by any trauma would be a seriously interesting version of the guy to write.

edit: also throwing a totally undamaged erskin together with tragically gothic child bel and having maybe saniza 'i don't understand how troll puberty relates to these weird dokis i get when bel does stupid shit' pancho along for the ride just sounds like a fucking adorable shitshow to me.
