i think bel would fit right in with the Agency's division of Magical Nerds. There's probably a camp of practical no-fuss witches like Helen and a much larger (much less in charge) camp of extremely excitable 20's to 30's self-styled mathemagicians who want to know if you can stick some quantum tunneling theories together with a teleportation spell and launch yourself to mars. and give their hybrid spell-programs super cool names like Venus In Chains and Blood Moon Tango.... i'm sexist enough to expect the sensible witch camp to be about 2/3 girls and the self-important wizard camp to be about 2/3 boys. bel could probably get along with both, though obviously many people can't.

i also like the idea that Lord Aspera got a difficult but impractical classics degree at oxford and gets really defensive around the full moon as he loses the ability to read anything more difficult than basic instructions.

 

also the thought of bel meeting a bunch of friendly, enthusiastic, like-minded werewolves at last makes me smile.

 

should they meet anything interesting along the way or just have a nice night out?

 

coyotes could be cool, they haven't bumped into coyotes yet. idk if any coyotes would want to get near wolves, though. they are smarter than baby foxes.

edit: also north dakota does not apparently have a breeding population of wolves, they keep getting shot because people think they're coyotes, the poor bastards.

erskin is great at traveling but really lousy at keeping track of a stationary point in relation to where he's gone, because he does a ton of the former and almost none of the latter. so in his enthusiasm to be all fixed up and ready to go, he would have been thoughtlessly going as far as he could as easily as he could, following pre-cleared paths and roadsides, that kind of thing, without actually ever considering that he'd have to turn around at some point. and presumably bel got caught up in fun of it too.
