btw salted roads and walkways are no good for paw pads! but werewolves heal so fast chemical burns probably wont be much of a thing

 

no prob, i'm just playing tappy games and soaking in my sun lamp.

yeah, they'll probably have sore pads later, but i was thinking in the meantime they could move a lot faster because they're not wading through snow and won't get ice caked between their toes.

that said, i think it'd be adorable if bel insisted on buying doggie booties for their road trip.

can erskin scale an eight foot chain link: yes. does it look cool as hell: yes. does he whine like an idiot when he scrambles back the other way: hell yes.

erskin has DEFINITELY gotten smarter since he's been hanging around with bel. or at least more thoughtful.

 

there is apparently a coyote that just hangs around on campus and look how polite he is! as near as i can tell with the body language, i mean. he doesn't look directly at anyone for more than a glance, doesn't hold his head high or his ears forward, doesn't move too fast or towards anyone. he doesn't think humans will hunt him or kill him, but he definitely doesn't want to make anyone mad enough to snap at or chase him. the only time he's at all fast or snappy is when he gets weirded out by a skateboard.

i think he's also being very cautious about the humans who orient right at him, stand stiffly, and stare him down, because that's really challenging, aggressive body language for like... most social animals and especially canines. like all the kids are thinking 'oh look a coyote how awesome' but he's just hearing YOU WANNA FUCKING GO, PUNK!? and is doing his best to signal back no i do not.

animals are so cool. the animals that are brave and patient about putting up with aggressive human nonsense are especially cool.

 

but it still sucks when big animals get comfortable with humans because they start to think they've got the rules figured out? and the main rule humans have is 'if you scare or inconvenience us we will kill you'. like the guy was saying 'if the coyote bit someone, he'd be put down'. because yeah if the coyote thought 'we're all on the same page here' and then did his OWN challenging or warning behavior at a human who he thought was being rude, he'd get shot. it sucks that most humans are such bad neighbors to animals and generally put like zero effort into actually understanding or communicating with them.

SIGH.

 

by the way i think it's still november, in game. sharon is just the kind of person to wear a christmas sweater the minute it snows, even if that's in september.

I feel like Bel outside a house would be deceptively non-huge. But Bel inside a house would be like... tibetan mastiff size. Couch size. 'Why is that indoors it's gonna break a window with its tail' size.

Also maybe Bel and Erskin could heroically rescue her from something. Not more shooters though or Bel is gonna start getting like extra ptsd.

 

maybe she takes them out walking and slips on ice, and they fetch help.
