in which universe? i think lainey first encountered erskin when he was on the run during the cloris thing. and wrote it up in her gossip rag.

 

yeah i think he definitely doesn't get the extent to which trolls on a ship can be monitored

 

also it's unfortunately closing in on my bedtime-- are you up for playing any more tomorrow or the weekend, do you think?

 

i've definitely forgotten WHAT ALL bel has done for his lil revolution. remind me?

 

also it's very cute to me that bel and erskin are clever in very different ways, as well as practical in very different ways. erskin is an absolutely fucking devious little ferret with priorities geared towards 'i've been surviving on my own against the world most of my life', but also an incredibly impulsive twerp with a very odd sense of fair play.

kadros is an intelligent and well educated egghead who's extremely impressed by his own brain... with a different very odd sense of fair play.

i feel like if given a heist to conduct, bel would do enough clever hacking that the museum ended up mailing him the thing he wanted to steal, while erskin would show up with a fake mustache and a cardboard box and walk out with the thing under his arm.

 

for the record, captain aspera sees helmsmen as like.... basically horses, and he's in favor of horses being raised well, trained properly, treated decently for the duration of their lifespans, and then put out to pasture or kindly euthanized. he sees people that abuse them as total assholes who should be disempowered from doing so, but he also sees the people who want to FREE them all as idiot idealists who have no clue how ridiculous and disruptive that would be. 'oh yeah why don't we let the horses decide how to run the farm, great idea, mhmm, sure'. that kind of thing.

he's already aware that baby bel is in the FREE ALL THE HORSES camp, politically, but baby bel could grow out of it and is anyway not going to be HIS headache for much longer. and also the FREE ALL THE HORSES camp tends to get killed upon discovery by the BE REALLY HORRIBLE TO HORSES camp, which erskin doesn't like at all.
