yeah i think so! he definitely gets on her nerves and she thinks he's really embarassing and obnoxious....i was just having fun with having her make heinrich sound as OMINOUS AS POSSIBLE because it's funny

 

hmm, you know what, i think we've hit into something that's making me uncomfortable. personally, i get that bel's motivated by worry and compassion and a need to fix stuff, but the thought of a partner controlling who i associate with, and who i'm intimate with— and especially going out and choosing someone to be in authority over me— gives me the screaming creeps.

so i am having this very 'no no no no ick no' reaction about bel like, continuing from here, to go talk to heinrich on his own, without erskin's knowledge. even though it's an attempt to make his life safer and more healthy, it just to me feels emotionally like bel's hugely overstepping.

i think erskin would take it well, like 'oh, that's convenient' to find bel had sort of arranged things for him, but we've established that if it isn't like 'literally locking him up' erskin has pretty nebulous boundaries. but i personally just do not want.

 

yeah, that's very reasonable for him to do, and the more research, the better, obviously. maybe he can troll jethro though and jethro can be like 'dude slow it down a notch' or something? or point out this is more of a moirail's look-out than a kismesis's? and also maybe point out that it's been like a full night/day/day-and-night since bel took off and if he hasn't slept in all that time he shouldn't be flying anywhere?

awww, cute. yeah, she could come back in at some point and shoo him into the sopor properly... i'm toying with the idea of the vampires asking bel for compensation for the safe sleep and the advice and the books, and maybe sending him on a fetchquest or something? like they're nice, but they still need stuff and don't have stipends, it'd make sense for them to barter a bit with kids. and presumably bel is REALLY wigged out by blood donations, now.

he could get himself bitten if he wanted to see what it was like, but that doesn't quite seem like his style of self-neglect to me? or obsessive researchy business. but if it was that could be interesting. pancho could burst out of a fenestrated plane and whap him upside the head with a rolled-up newspaper.

 

I like that! Maybe they have a lending policy with their books after all-- a liter of blood to check a book out. Doesnt have to be your blood. Swapping books is also possible-- maybe bel could start up a book trading thing.

 

the rainbowdrinkers could be useful for bel's rebel plans, but i don't want to make them like, TOO helpful! or the easy answer to every problem. so there should definitely be high prices attached to their help, i think. feel free to think some up, i'm sort of stuck on 'blood (lots)', 'fibers (weird)', and 'books (unique)'.

 

i suppose they'll present him the bill later after breakfast, then. maybe in the form of a 'you'll do us a favor, won't you, dear?' sort of nudge. 'we're always happy to help a nice boy out but we do appreciate a bit of help in return.'
