Oh my god, Cloris, you poor, twisted piece of shit. Is it even going to occur to you that the common denominator in all these dead kids' lives is you? Would you even think to feel bad about it if it did?
A suspicion- has Sigmah nerfed Cloris's lucid dream capabilities? Or is Bel just that single minded in battle-mode, that it becomes physically impossible for someone in his command to turn on him? If the latter, yay for Bel's blind spots, they won the day.
combo of both. sigmah has been unrelentingly riding Cloris's ass until her confidence is undermined, picking away at her armor of denial -- he knows EXACTLY what her weak spots are, because he's a sociopath too. and bel's ego, while not as large as it sometimes seems, is armor-plated. even if she managed to dig up some flaw or embarrassment or bad behavior he wasn't aware of, it wouldn't make a good weapon against him, because he'd study it with great interest and judge it on its factual accuracy. whereas bel's battlefield dreams are so vivid and detailed that even in top form cloris would have a hard time altering one, let alone when she's exhausted from sigmah's siege. there may also be another, more secret factor. Spoiler: i'm not saying bel has a guardian angel, but...
Wait I don't get the spoiler thing. It is a very nice art but... Also, that new thread. I am sure this thread will hurt my heart BUT EVEN SO.
really our only hint so far is when he had the dream that precipitated his poetry binge and starting the blackbox project. can't remember precisely where in the archive that is, but it's after galley gets out of the heal tank, i think the first time they sleep on the binsense.
ok i'm just gonna post them together then: aengus kadros, aka tribunus gorecrow, the janißary: galley's ancestor, a hotshot superspy type; aengus was jealous of his mad skillz, blackroms ensued:
@roach Not quite related to your always awesome art, but if you had to pick a flower for Erskin, do you have any idea which it would be?
erskin's ancestor joined the summoner's rebellion as a young man, brought all his influence and wealth and power to bear on reforming the hemospectrum, and was brutally executed by his highblood peers for it. erskin's pretty likely to have no idea, as he'd rightly assume that, as a seadweller, if he had an ancestor the ancestor would have lived a long time and been very important had a bunch of adventures that made history. instead aspera senior's existence is little footnote on whatever heavily censored recording of the uprising remains. history not being at all erskin's thing, he probably didn't even take that schoolfeed. bel might put the pieces together eventually, but that's a plot thread for some other time.
gladiolus, the sword lily. it has general meanings of forthrightness, courage, strength of character, honor. erskin's own name has to do with blades and difficult journeys, so i think that fits. amusingly, the blossoms of the gladiolus can symbolize remembrance, something he's absolutely no fucking good at. edit to add: for bel i'd say bluebells, also known as dead man's bells, which symbolize constancy and everlasting love. if you hear bluebells ringing, you're going to die. for lu i'd say delphinum, named for dolphins, and also known as larkspur, symbolizing lightness, levity, an open heart, and ardent love. galley gets daffodils, for rebirth, hope, forgiveness, and prosperity. the dude needs it. ironically, daffodils are noted for being very easy to take care of.
that's so perf. what about pancho? *sound of chainsaw in the distance* uhh... pine trees? idek man. i love the dream war pic SO MUCH. i don't understand those uniforms even a little bit, but i love the blowy ribbon and hair and goggles, and their smiles, especially erskin's mischief face, what a cutie. :3
