Damn, that is a cool tattoo idea (and a really fantastic story, of course) I've currently got jack and shit in terms of body mod stuff, but I'd like a tattoo eventually, at least partly because that's be one of the few kinds of body art things I could do without tripping my "oh god things on skin" squick. Probably of some sort of fossil thing, naturally.
So Im at wendys right now and i didnt think this through, eating my burger is awkward as hell cos my snakebotes are still new! XD
this makes me happy ^_^ i can't take credit for it, btw; it's an old zen proverb. "before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." that is to say, daily life is still daily life even when your mind and spirit are changing. i find it a really comforting concept.
An idea I recently started kicking around is something with this verse from 1 Cor 13 (The Message) "So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love." I was thinking some symbols about the people I love or how I met them. So maybe neopets or homestuck or my college logo or stuff like that. Probably a Pride flag. I'm not really sure. Also words gotta be big and the quote is pretty long, so I'm not really sure if this'll pan out, but yeah.
I've got Issues With Needles so I'm not sure I'm ever going to be able to psyche myself up to get a tattoo, but I'd like to get a short piece of the lorem ipsum text - both because of its history in typography and printing, and because it's actually slightly garbled fragments of a passage from Cicero which translates to something along the lines of "no one seeks pain because they like pain, but sometimes circumstances that cause pain can also lead to great rewards. but who has any right to judge people for choosing to enjoy a pleasure that has no downside, or for avoiding pain that has no reward?"
If I ever work up the nerve (and the cash), I'm going to get a magnetic finger implant. Yeah, it's not hugely practical--but being able to pick up sensory input that you didn't even have before is amazing! I've heard it's very painful, though, and no one locally will do it, so it's not going to happen soon.
Ive never heard of that before, it sounds really cool! Im not sure Id ever get used to something liike that tho :3
Interesting. I wonder whether you'd get a similar function from a magnet implanted somewhere less nerve-dense than a finger-tip? It seems like even just putting it on the back of the hand or the inside of the wrist would heal more quickly and less painfully, and also reduce discomfort from handling other magnets because the implant site wouldn't be directly involved in gripping things.
Just got a new septum ring yesterday! It's a clicker, and I think I really prefer it to the circular barbell things I've had before. I like how it looks a bit better, and it's way easier to remove and put back in. I'm sold.
They're a type of septum ring shaped kind of like the letter D (or sometimes more like an O with part of it squashed flat), and they're called clickers because they "click" into place--the straight part is on a hinge, and that's the part that goes through your nose. Here's a pic of some: You probably already know what a circular barbell is, but I'll explain anyway. They're pretty much what they sound like--curved like a circle with a space in the middle, with beads on either side to keep it in. You remove it (or put it back in) by unscrewing one of the beads, then screwing it back on. They definitely look a bit different, and I personally think a clicker looks better on me than a circular barbell, but yeah.
@Acey you look really cute with those glasses and that clicker does look alot better than the usual barbells to me! Lots of pretty varieties too!:3
Thanks! I really like it. (And those are just my usual glasses--my eyesight is awful, so I figured...why not have cute frames? :P)
@Acey you definetly rock em :) I hhave less than perfect vision also I do that thing where I push em up the bridge of my nose(my nose is kinda little so it doesnt like keeping them up xD) and even If im not wearing my.glassea i find.myself doing it! My friends laugh at me for that :p
Bumping this thread like whoa because last year I got a tattoo on my thigh! It's a TMBG thing, a picture they've used a lot, especially in their early years. :D I also have more planned but it's super late/early so I'll go into that later...
