Any opinions on the borderlands movie? Its pretty low key with reporting, ive only so far been able to find a slowly released list of actors in various articles and so far we've got cate blanchett as lilith, kevin hart as roland, and jack black as claptrap.

Im honestly torn on whether this is a long running hoax or just a fan list of fantasy casting or not, and honestly im kinda hoping its fake at this point. I like jack black but a claptrap he is Not

 

I...haven't heard anything about a borderlands movie, honestly? Agreed that Jack Black is Not a claptrap, though. Claptrap requires a certain level of pathetic, creepy obnoxiousness which...well, Jack Black is a skilled actor, but that's not his wheelhouse and it'd be pretty jarring to see it from him.

 

Yeah its kind of a mystery, it sounds fake but then the only reason i can think of for naming big name actors is almost like when you make a fake "if this were a movie my cast would be (example)" but it has a sparse imdb page and everything so i dunno

 

Welp, here's an update on the apparently very real movie! If you dont want to read the whole article i recommend at least skimming the cast list, and a tldr version is basically pitchford is being very hands on and overall its not canon to the video game franchise:

Still not able to get over Jack Black as Claptrap, always messing with that poor yellow robot. Some of the most jarring decisions in the franchise all made around him

It just... It looks fake af. Why would someone or someones pay this much time, effort, and money to hype a fake movie???

 

It occurred to me that claptrap might be cgi if this is real, and the thought alone frightens me

 

Heres an article about kevin hart playing roland in the movie, and a shirtless pic of the man in which he has become Fucking Ripped.

The article goes on to talk about shooting the movie in budapest and how its apparently wrapping up soon

The movie is real and it's being added to the Roku channel for free some time this year. Plot looks like a butchered version of the games but I'm gonna watch anyways because I can't not.

 

Well. Well you guys. Its. Happening I guess. I'm kinda pissed off... Nah actually I'm quite pissed off, the only casting I somewhat like is tannis



I hate everything about this. I'm still gonna watch it eventually but there will be so much bitching
