so i was in barnes & noble and i am now the proud owner of the last 2 alloy of law books and the way of kings

sidenote the way of kings is huge it's like textbook size

 

it is quite thick, which I always enjoy, it's so comforting to have so much book to read

(Seriously, though, my metric for size when I wanted a new purse was "can I fit my paperback copy of The Way of Kings in?" :::PPP )

The biggest problem is that the Sanderson Cascade lasts for a percentage of pagecount rather than a set number of pages, so when you're reading Mistborn and they're like 600 pages long you're glued to the book for like the last 150 pages, but when you're reading TWoK and it's like 1250 pages you better have enough time blocked out to read 300 pages of really tiny font. :::PPP

 

I read them in actual book form originally, but the last couple of rereads have been on my phone, which is very handy for transportation, even if some of the stuff doesn't come through as well (namely, drawings and maps and such)

The drawings and maps are all up on his website. I read Bands of Mourning on Kindle and the broadsheet pages were unreadable at that resolution, so I looked 'em up there. That's probably a good option for anyone wanting to read Stormlight who doesn't want to deal with the ridiculously tiny text on the standard-height paperbacks. (The writing on Shallan's sketchbook pages is especially hard to read, since it's tiny and italicized handwriting font.)

Talking about the Mistborn rpg with a friend of mine and this came up:

Other fun things about it: the intro said it would be rules light and then proceeded to give me chapters for each of the 16 metals complete with rules for each of the metal based magics. I also have a chart of the burn and flare ratios of all the metals, the knowledge that tapping 4 charges from an ironmind increases my weight by 40% and knocks off 2 points of my physique rating when making rolls on things like jumping and rolling, and a diagram of where all the hemalurgic spikes go (this sadly wasn't labeled).

 

They also provided ideas for using the novels as starting points for your games and one of them was "What if Sazed died?" and I was very NO GODS WHY NO LEAVE MY BOY ALONE.

I do like that Sanderson went HAVE FUN WITH MY BABIES as a suggestion for how to ease into gaming though. I have the go ahead to create my AU where Shan lived and had a hate romance with Vin. Got to make a roll on my wooing Shan with my being an awful street urchin charm.

2. Why did Jasnah bother making those magic stair things if she's just going to hover? THAT'S A WASTE OF PERFECTLY GOOD STAIRS, JASNAH.
