Just read Warbreaker finally and it's good shit

though I almost feel like there were TOO many subversions of our expectations? for the most part I was delighted with them, but towards the end I was like. okay if you're gonna subvert EVERYTHING FOREVER, that's scarcely better than subverting nothing at all tbh?

and a lot of it is because I derive immense, sadistic enjoyment from giggling to myself on rereads about how wrong people are about everything. Mostly Vivenna.

(Most of the remainder is that Lightsong and Nightblood are delights and that I will never stop laughing at the fact that the MYSTERIOUS MAGIC MURDER HOBO is actually an engineer with a charisma score of 7 trying to solve a sociopolitical conflict with his total lack of any relevant skills.)

 

hello ancient thread, I have been stuffing the Stormlight series into my brain in all my free time. I have about... 7 hours left of Oathbringer.

gotta say I am a little surprised they hadn't already figured out humans weren't from Roshar? given how prevalent scientific pursuit is in this world, it seems odd that no one ever noticed that hey, a handful of the species on this planet seem totally out of place and unlike everything else here. I was wondering when it might come up, but I didn't think it would be such a shock to all the characters, especially Jasnah. maybe it's a field of inquiry the Ardentia suppresses?

anyway I've just gotten to the bit where apparently Urithiru comes under attack, can't wait to see how these crazy kids get out of this one
