Catching all 151, er, 368, er ... a lot: The Pokemon Infodump Party!

I got it today, is the goals just to catch as many pokemon as possible? Does it matter if you have more than one pokemon of the same variety? (I have two pidgies for instance).

This is confusing XD

 

With more than one pokemon, you can transfer them back to the professor to get the candies you need for evolving them! I usually send back the weaker CP pokemon, though since I now have four Raticates, I may run into a problem soon with just having too many of them.

Once you hit level 5, you'll be able to join one of the three teams and fight for dominance over Gyms. And the higher level you get, the rarer pokemon you can find.

 

The Eevee is now named JoyRide.

I hadn't planned on naming any of them (except maybe my tendency for overly fancy Regency/Victorian names for pets) and then this happened.

 

There was a Jigglypuff somewhere in Target yesterday but I couldn't find it and I had to go back to work. :(

But I hatched three eggs on my walk today! One of them was a Psyduck! I named it Megrim. Also I leveled up to 12 and now Pokestops are spitting Great Balls at me.

 

After days of seeing its silhouette in the radar around town but never ACTUALLY sighting it no matter how much I hunted...I got a Jynx!! (So many people had clearly stopped to catch her as well, multiple people walking the same path quickly stopped and were paying very much attention to their phones.)

Also two of my eggs hatched one after the other - a Vulpix and a Growlithe! They're cute and the best and precious puppers.

It also seems that our town is straight-up overrun with Weedle. Nobody needs as many Weedles as I found today. Nobody.

I have been playing during car trips and on bus rides. It's amazing how many different pokemon you can catch during a car trip or bus ride in an urban environment. And today I caught a weepinbell without even leaving the house! It was excellent, usually I can only catch weedles and pidgies from the comfort of my own home.

 

OK, an Eevee just walked into my living room and gave me enough candy to test the control-eeveelution-by-naming-eevee-things trick...

...aaaand my Eevee named Pyro did indeed evolve into Flareon! Sweet.

 

Tested this yesterday and got a Vaporeon through 'Rainer'! So did my friend when she evolved it, and 'Sparky' likewise yeilded Jolteon. For once a Pokego trick is legit!

 

I'm still interested in what kind of logic it goes through for less-obvious names-- why is, say, Overlord a Vaporeon and Tarn a Flareon? [is 100% still naming pokemon after robots] (If Sixshot turns into a Jolteon I will be v happy but still confused and intrigued.)

 

I think the naming trick has to do with the trainers in the first gym with Eeveelutions from the comic or anime or something. Otherwise it seems to be random.

 

I don't remember whether my Jolteon was an un-nicknamed Eevee or Elvis. ...yes, Elvis is my go-to name for unevolved Eevee

I went to one of the other big parks in town this afternoon, the one with the lake, and shit son it's LIT. 7 or 8 Pokestops and two gyms, all of the Pokestops pretty much right on the walking trail including the one on the cool bridge that goes over the lake, and HOLY WATER TYPES BATMAN. I got a Dratini! I got a Slowpoke! I got ...not nearly enough Magikarp! And the park was crawling with players. Every other stop had a lure on it the whole time I was there. At the park across the street you hardly ever see lures come out until after dark.

Also I got to see baby ducks. And got the stink-eye from a goose. Like, this dude wasn't coming at me, but he was squaring up and looking at me like "u wanna fukin go m8"

 

Haha yeah, when I was at the park in the big town near me I was hissed at by geese bc I walked into a flock of them in pursuit of a Staryu.

 

I need to hit up my library one these days, theres only one gym but theres a park with a lake behind it. And lots of pokestops.

 

The trick's names are from the anime yes. Specifically there were three characters themed on their respective eevolutions with those names.

NORTHFIELD POKEYMAN GO TIPS

aud's building's back door area spawns eevees on the regular. her apartment spawns them and common critters so frequently that it's actually more reliable to sit on her couch and pet her cat than walking around outside.

jigglypuffs spawn in the South Oak apartment parking lot across the street from my place, next to the dumpster.

the southwesternmost bench in Bridge Square is a sweet spot within range of 3 pokestops, which is rad because i'm always out of balls and there's almost always lures as well.

 

One of my neighbor's houses spawns a pile of like, 5-6 common Pokémon every morning. Hopefully they don't think I'm a creeper for stopping near their driveway on the way to work every day because it's a hotspot for Eevees and I'm determined to make JoyRide a Vaporeon.
