Is it just me having incredible RNG or is the game way too forgiving with legendaries and stuff? I caught Lunala in two Ultra Ball turns which, ok, that's happened to me before with Virizion and a great ball so it didn't ping for me, but I just caught Nihilego in two beast ball throws. This game is WAY nerfed compared to the prior games (i will note they've been getting progressively easier so a little nerfing is fine, but to this degree is very confusing). OHKOing legendaries I don't want (the tapus) would be fine if I were, say, eight to ten levels above them, not 2-5. I'm really hoping I was just lucky because you're given ten beast balls each UB mission, so I've already got a surplus of eight. Luckily each UB is 5 levels above its predecessor so I'll get a challenge eventually, but right now I'm more or less worried I'll accidentally OHKO a beast and ruin the chance to get Necrozma.

edit: caught pheromosa on the first try (after OHKOing her and having to SR...). I get the beast balls are supposed to make catching them easier but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

second edit: second pheromosa (you need to catch four of them?) also caught on first try. very frustrating indeed.

third edit: confirmed super catch rate nerf, third pretty cockroach caught first throw. I'm just doing two extreme speeds (getting her health in red) and throwing the ball.

final edit on the pheromosa saga: i crit captured the last one so im not counting that towards nerf, just me being lucky

I love the plot, I love the entirely new mechanics of the game like totem pokemon and SOS calling (despite how grating it can get when you don't want them to do that), but I don't love how they put bumpers on the fights and hold your hand with the tutorial/cutscene overkill. And apparently aside from the ultra beasts and battle tree, there isn't much new content to explore. I suppose there's Live battles, or filling your pokedex, but, mmn. I don't tend to do pvp matches or fill my dex to the brim. I might restart with a new pokemon once I get all the beasts. My girlfriend still hasn't gotten her shiny rowlet so I might SR for a shiny popplio next round and make a new team.

in other news I heard the rumor that when pokebank is patched for alolan pokes it wont be ORAS compatible and that made a bunch of people upset. might look into it more, but i didnt buy pokebank so i have no stock in it.

idk about the tapus or ultra beasts, but they've made the cover legendaries much easier to catch gen 6. i caught yveltal in a poke ball on Y, and just a couple ultra ball throws for kyogre in ORAS. that is kinda a bummer if the UBs are easy to catch though, i wanted those guys to be SUUUPER hard to battle and catch :/

It's...it depends. Some people are getting their asses kicked by these things, and I can see why. The levels jump by five per beast more or less, and you get five beasts total (so from 55 to 70), plus Necrozma who's 75. Necrozma isn't an Ultra Beast so the beast balls will have an insanely low catch rate if I use them on him, lower than a pokeball I think. I might toss the masterball at him and be done with it.

But I've kept Zygarde 50% in the lead with Aura break and that takes out their flared auras im pretty sure? So even though it's lv 54 I have been kicking these things asses. I'm more disappointed in the catch rate for these things. I'll let you know how Xurkitree goes (lv 54 zygarde against lv 65 electric beast), but I don't have high hopes due to my type advantage.

 

I evolved my Fomantis into a Lurantis last night and I love her. I love this design so much. Pink, mint green, and pinstripes on the legs??

I feel like the last few gens have really given me a lot of grass types I like. Leavanny, Whimsicott, Gogoat, and now Lurantis.

 

@Shingleback I knoooow Lurantis is so pretty. *o* That's why I was keeping Fomantis on my team. Whimsicott is in Sun, though (Moon gets Lilligant), and I want it so much...Whimsicott was my fav and I was always so mad my fav version had my less preferred version exclusive.

 

@Carnivore I ended up trading a Petilil for a Cottonee on the GTS, but I haven't done anything with it since I knew I would want Lurantis. Point being they are gettable over GTS, but also you probably knew that. XD

Anyway yeah, I feel like I frequently want the exclusives from the version I prefer less... Ngl I am still peeved about Vulpix and Ninetales getting changed for Alola (it was good the way it waaaassss), but I also want it anyway. Then again even if I got one now, I already have a full team I really like so it's not like I would use it much? *fuss fuss!*

Except for a particularly stubborn Celesteela, all the Ultra Beasts stayed in the first or second ball. I obviously saved the masterball for the strongest pokemon ingame because fuck fighting a lv 75 psychic pokemon when most of my team was only just barely scratching 60. I'm disappointed this wasn't a challenge.

I hope there's downloadable content because otherwise this was a very brusque ending. Sure, it wrapped up nice in the end, but hrff. I want more.

 

I'm so upset... I just had a 165+ chain of Stuffuls in SOS, trying to search for a shiny, and it ended because of Brutal Swing hitting Bide. Fuck you, bears. FUCK. YOU. So many ethers and potions and berries wasted. Fuck me.

 

I'm trying very hard to make a team of strictly alolan pokemon but I? Like very few of them? I have mostly alolan pokes on my makeshift team now but the ones carrying it are haunter and magnemite lmao. (SCREW YOU TOTEM WISHIWASHI) Also I rushed into the game way too excited so the difficulty spike after the first set of trials really sent me in for a loop, I don't think I've ever actually used potions in battle before this game, but maybe because I'm just not used to the alolan pokemon's stats or the z-moves yet?? Idk but holy shit am I struggling a bit my dudes... Also I haven't been paying attention to stat growths so I keep accidentally teaching attacking pokemon special attack moves so I've spent the past few hours trying to backtrack and TMing the shit outta them

 

If anyone's into the breeding thing and would like to attempt me a thing, I'll trade you a pokemon for a shiny rowlet

I'll trade one of the Pheromosas or Celesteelas for it. They're the moon-exclusive ultra beasts, if anyone cares for that sort of thing. Pheromosa is lv 60 and Celesteela is 65.

It's for my GF since she's having a really taxing time SRing for her shiny but she doesn't want to go through 1/4th the game before getting one via masuda method.

For anyone keeping track, Rowlet's egg group is flying, so a female starter + foreign flying egg group pokemon would do it, since i doubt this early in the release people are gonna have foreign rowlets or dittos on hand

Also @Lizardlicks at one point you're straight up given 1million in reward for something. It's postgame, though, so it seems...kinda halfassed?

Why after the main game are you given all that dosh? What could I possibly need after the game plot that requires so much money? It can't be adrenaline orbs, you only need one per battle. You can't buy ethers or elixers, and battling the elite 4 gets you 10k per trainer so you don't exactly walk out with nothing substantial to buy potions for more battles.

I'd love another master ball as a postgame reward, that'd be neat. But I guess having a million is OK too
