Catching all 151, er, 368, er ... a lot: The Pokemon Infodump Party!

With Hyper Training, is IV training/breeding even important anymore? I mean. If you can use the training to boost their stats up to what they would be with perfect IVs, does it matter if they don't actually have them?

 

It's definitely a lot easier now that you can get solid iv'd mons from chaining. Friend safari only guaranteed 2 31s, but with a 30+ chain you're almost guaranteed to get 3, and if you go further you can sometimes get 4. The key is chaining dittos, imo. Once you get a 4+ iv'd ditto (and a destiny knot) you're pretty much set for further breeding.

 

I think realistically it's still important because bottle caps are still rare and you'll want to use them on legendaries or other non-breedable pokes first. Plus you can only hyper train at 100, and it's a huge pain in the ass to actually level to 100 in SM.

 

so how does Hyper Training work? that sounds a little more promising.

You gotta get your pokemon to level 100 before you can do it. Then you go to the hyper training guy in hau'oli city mall. 1 regular bottle cap will raise a single iv to 31, a gold bottle cap will raise all 6 to 31. This is a bit of a fake upgrade though, the mons are considered to have their original ivs for breeding purposes, and the upgrade is essentially just for battle.

lmao i just realized now the totodile i got from GTS was a shiny... i was wondering why it looked weird when i evolved it up to Feraligatr.

 

similar revelation: i went to trade evolve my feebas with my room mate and he flicked over his ninetails and i was like 'dude that's a shiny..' and he was surprised lol. i guess people are just dumping shinies into gts/wondertrade.

 

Just started with Sun today! Had to go with a Litten although he may never see his final form......

This feels a whole lot different from any Pokemon game I've ever played and I'm interested in seeing how it goes.

 

Do some people like. Not know what a shiny is? Or something?
