Soo... with the update changes, they changed the outfits, made it so you have to pay to chnage them and they got rid of my fav color combo for the standard jackets :( i am upset.

On the other hand, they also made it so you can tell the gender of the pokemon. I am now a proud owner of a female tentacool named squidward

ETA: i should make note that is for the pkmn go updates

I don't mind cosmetic items for another moneysink, but the loss of certain color patterns makes me sad :c and also some items change patterns depending on your color choice (most obviously the default hat) and that is Annoying.

I did spend a good ten minutes going through my Pokemon and cackling at the full half of them that turned out to be opposite genders of their namesakes tho :P

I have decided to collect Murkrows, because they are wonderful perfect angels and I have befriended their god. In my mind.

I collect Tauroses, too, but they're pretty rare. I already have 13 Murkrows. THEY WILL BE LEGION

i wonder, is there pokeball security? like the anime shows us that you can open other people's pokeballs, and the evil teams regularly steal pokemon. what's stopping some random schmuck from sneaking into your tent and running off with your pokeballs

also, how does the opening work. sometimes they get thrown and they open at just the right time, other times you push that middle button. how does that work? do they have motion sensors? do pokeballs just randomly open in moving vehicles or when their trainer faceplants? or is it like an air pressure thing that presses the button down? can you like, buttdial-open pokeballs? what if that happens in your bag, does it fuck up the empty balls?

they can get accidentally opended, (evidence: psyduck in the anime) but them randomly opening is not always random and i think is more likely a result of the pokemon itself wanting out

so i think based on what i remember of the anime, the pokemon has some control of things from within the pokeball, and the person handling the pokeball has some control outside the pokeball. but i dont think there was a lot of pokeball security in canon, outside of something like "make your friends/pokemon guard you while you sleep".

i could see pokeballs having some sort of fingerprint recodnition (like phones) that the trainer can set. and like phones, you could wipe the password or set multiple fingerprints if you wanted to lend your pokemon. and like phones, with the right technology you can break in without needing the password

as for throwing, in the anime pokeballs were small and would get big when you press the middle button, so off of that........ maybe a short press means "open" and a long press means "get big" and a double press means "get big and open in T minus 5 seconds", or something like that?
