At least from my intermittent experience with period pieces, hard leather suitcases tend to be associated with a particular mode of travel--ship travel and train travel--that were a) common during the height of the British Empire and therefore b) make it into a lot of media about British Characters (Who Are Inevitably Travelers). Japanese media around Britain has a very specific image it tends to latch onto, and that's generally one that rambles around the steampunk/Victorian aesthetic, when those kinds of suitcases were the norm.

Also, I think I'm going to go for Sobble as a starter. I'm really interested to see what the evolved forms are? If Scorbunny ends up fire/fighting, I wouldn't actually be that upset about it, I don't think, but I'm not sure if Sobble's leaning towards ghost/psychic/dark for their secondary or if it's going to do something like fairy or steel instead.
