So, since this thread requires admin action for anyone to actually get their name changed, on advice we finally figured out that having a post go through moderation is fewer steps and less hassle for people than having to report a post in order to be sure mods see it. If people think this is a terrible idea it can be undone, but it seemed an easy way to streamline things for everyone's greater convenience.

i'm... sorta balking at that, because like, what if someone else wants the name, but they didn't think of it first, which means they deserve it more
I don't think anyone will have any trouble recognising me after the name change, but it just occurred to me that cryptoThelematrix is a multilayered religious pun that almost nobody in the world gets and I could change my name to cleverThylacine, and it wouldn't break so weirdly on smaller screens. :) (therefore, I am requesting a name change to cleverThylacine) (and yes I will change my user title, @Lazarae, haha)
Exactly the way @LadyNighteyes does, and it's still got to be an easier guess than tha-LEM-a-trix was :) I have also heard thy-la-sign, all syllables equally stressed, in a doco about cloning them, but it's far less common. People who say it that way use the singular form as the plural form. I'll take either one, since I've heard both from Australian experts on the topic, and I'm...not Australian, just obsessed. At any rate, my point was that I am absolutely not changing my name so that people won't know I'm me, and also that I think the name is more accurate to me and also more courteous for other people since they don't have to sit and stare at it and wonder how to say it and what the hell it actually means. idk why it never occurred to me before that I could keep cT (which is how people are used to thinking of me) and replace the T with thylacine. :) but I'm glad I did beause seeing this username makes me so happy, the hardest part was choosing the 'c'.
