...that sounds like the sort of film I would be driven mad by. Maybe I should watch it with a friend of mine who normally screams about how stupid horror protagonists are and thus has misgivings with the genre. It'd be fun to have me be the one going OMFG YOU STUPID IDIOTS DO YOU WANT TO DIE.
@Lerxst So i bought SOMA while it was on sale! Spoiler I tried to play it and it was ABOMINABLY slow on my shitty 5-year-old macbook pro, so I gave up and watched the first video of your LP, but then I had to go to sleep and the next day I realized that if i made the game appear in a goddamn 800x600 window I could actually play it Anyway, weird brain shit, robots who think they're people, et cetera. I'm PRETTY sure my guy is a robot with a brain scan in it, and Real Simon Jarrett either died or went on his merry way post brain scan. But - hmm, the robot who thought he was Carl thought I was a human, just a fucked-up human, so WHO KNOWS (I've gotten to the staircase to the comms tower, but not through & up the staircase yet.) Robot scariness decreased by the fact that I tailed the robot at about two feet of distance for like a full minute and I didn't die. Overall game experience unpleasantness increased by all these goddamn visual effects (not the glitching, but the.. low health? effects). This Kills The Blue
@blue eee hee hee yes good Spoiler I think you can disable the low-health effects in options, maybe, but not sure. Also you definitely want subtitles on, some of the intercom recordings are kind of hard to make out. You'll learn a little more about what happened to Simon post-scan later in the game and also exactly what little Simons are currently made of and that's all I'm gonna say about that. :D
I disabled visual effects from the menu, but it seems to affect the glitchy stuff, not the low health effects? But maybe I should see if restarting the game changes it. I do have subtitles on, though, because I Love Subtitles. i'm excited to find out more plot stuff >:D
Tw animal injury and gore The visuals for this are absolutely stunning, but on more than one occasion it had me tearing up in horror. 10/10 would cry at again
Can I just say watching the Kojima/Reedus/Mikkelsen/del Toro BroT4 fanboy all over each other every time they tweet anything about Death Stranding is the most delightful thing ever? Also Kojima recently made some noises about hanging out with Junji Ito and I'm just sitting here making high-pitched noises because like... there is Ito-esque imagery all up in what we've seen of this game and if it turns out that's because he himself is actually involved in the art design I'm gonna lose every last bit of my shit.
So hey, if you can, PLEASE watch The Eye 10. also known as the eye 3 and the eye infinity, it is about a group of Thai friends who start playing ghost-summoning games to ill effect it is pretty good! if it was a normal horror movie i would give it a solid B ranking as it has some interesting ghosts and scares. However. It's so fucking funny. Spoiler: Spoilers During one scene, there's supposed to be a possession, and the scene is very scary and worrying BUT THEN a couple of gangster kids appear and thing that the possessed person's body movements are them dancing to their music, and THEY HAVE A DANCE OFF which ends promptly when possessed buddy walks on the ceiling and everyone runs away I went into this movie really not knowing what to expect but for what seems to be a fairly cheaply made movie it's? Hilarious? And also super super unnerving at some points and I just love it so much edit after acutally finishing it: tw for depictions of suicide, whoops
@rats I have no clue since I don't have Netflix, whoops I had to settle for a subbed version that had Both english and spanish subs?? It was kind of tough to read at points but its not that complex of a story I thhhhink its made by the same people who made that one movie about a girl getting an eye transplant from a ~dead person~ so maybe that'll make it easier to find legit
discuss. note: thumbnail is approximately 5 seconds of the footage, about 3/4 of the way in. the rest, if you can believe it, is creepier. less 'gorey' though.
