oh my god you guys LOOK AT THESE SWEET DEALZ if only I had money + wasn't roughly the size of a small hippo
I'm just waiting for Shiro or Geek Chic or a similar company to do a SU collection. I CAN EVEN THINK OF COLOR NAMES AND SUCH OKAY. And the little circular label thing could be Rose's shield! Also, I am now reminded that I REALLY need to organize my makeup area. And get a mirror for it. Also also, I got some great socks at Hot Topic to go with the floral boots my GF got me. They're over-the-knee (and they actually fit my fat legs, though they do tend to slide down a bit) and kind of a dark turquoise, and they're super comfy and work wonderfully with the boots!
christmas season is limited edition makeup hell i'm trying so hard not to buy shit i dont actually need makeup gods give me fortitude of will. wtf would i do with a glitter bar i dont even wear any glitter except gold all that often
I.......GOT......SWEATERSSSSSSSSSSSSS Big chunky sweaters that I wish I could show you guys, but I cannot pictures rn, I think. Bright red, coral/pastel orange, green grey, dark browny burgundy and black dogtooth pattern with dark grey very spaced out stripes with white flowers in them, a mauvy pink with white snowflake patterns, a pure white one with a collar, and a light grey one with pink, baby blue, light teal, and purple squares with pictures in them, some examples are a rocking horse, and an oil lamp.
Lipstick gurus of Kintsugi! (This seems like a good thread to ask.) I've been watching a lot of X-Files recently. Dana Scully always has fantastic lipstick - it's kind of sometimes brickish, sometimes rosy, v smooth and creamy. Anyone got tips for how I could recreate that look/suggestions of shades? Spoiler: Example pics Light of my life.
Seems like people on reddit had a similar question i'd sample apricots and possibly nudes with orange undertones with a silky/creamy finish at a makeup store near you another possibility would be a medium brown lipstick with a creamy apricot gloss over top (ot a high shine gloss though, more of a creamy finish again)
so upon finding out that they sell KIKO in a mall where i usually am not shopping (had an hour to kill between medical exams) i bought the Ultra Glossy Stylo in 820 Heavenly it doesn't really provide a vibrant or opaque color at all, it's more like a lipgloss in lipstick shape (how? idk fuckin black magic) but it's a really cute soft blueish lipgloss so i actually dig this a lot. so yeah might layer this over lipsticks i wanna make bluer? but damn for 5 bucks i can't complain
-prrprrprrs over aromaleigh Dragons Kiss and scorpion eyeshadow- Both are absolutely perfect. The dragons kiss is very pigmented indeed, and a tiny dab will make my lips look just a bit darker without making them pink or obviously painted. The scorpion eyeshadow is very green, very shimmery, and very opaque. Edit @IvyLB Where is that mall/store? I am experiencing a mighty need for makeup in strange colours.
Spandau Arcaden has a Kiko store on the ground floor right across from entrance 4 :D eta: also has an online store at kikocosmetics.com
Who's into scents? I don't do normal spray perfume with very, very rare exceptions (I think I'm allergic to something many use as a base; even light spritzes on other people make my throat raw) but I adore perfume oils. My dad makes scents, it's part of our wix thing, but he doesn't so much now because his agoraphobia's bad and getting ingredients is a venture. But I've taken a shine to Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs and have been slowly amassing a collection. (Dad also has a horrible rose allergy- to both the pollen and the oil. So I have to be really careful 'cause we spend a lot of time together. Lots of obsessively checking descriptions and sending inquiries before buying.) Because my experience with scents started with blends when I was a kid I actually have a hard time dissecting scents- I go mostly by emotional reaction unless there's a specific smell that nopes me out or is really good. I first got Deep in Earth, which is great and smells like petrichor. I only barely get the florals, mostly just the turned earth smell, but I love it anyway. Then I got The Raven, which is again supposed to be more floral but on me it's sharp and dark and strangely warm. It's become my standard 'armor' scent- when I am So Not Up For going out but have to anyway. It's strong, sometimes a little too much so, but also soothing. For my birthday I got the The Buggre Alle This Bible, which is supposed to be leather, tobacco leaf and incense. It doesn't smell like any of those to me, but I can't quite describe what it does smell like. I do like it, though! It's a calm, strong, gentle scent I use as my usual going-out armor scent. You get a handful of Imp's Ears with every order, a random selection of tiny samples. (You can also buy Imps' if you're not sure on a scent, except for certain collections.) I lost my first set to the catastrophe that is my room, but from the more recent two I got Love Me, which is very heady and spicy and practically magnetic. I could not stop sniffing my wrist all day. It smells like excellent company and being at the center of a cuddle puddle and lasted almost two days before the last ghosts of it wore off. My other favorite Imp I got is Snake Oil, which smells half medicinal covered up by herbal tincture-smell plus vanilla. Over time the medicinal/disinfectant smell fades and it turns into "someone making cookies in a warm kitchen (with hanging dry herbs) on a rainy day." Also lasts forever and makes me keep sniffing myself in a most unsubtle manner. This year's Chrismas has been kind of stressful because family's money and SAD and Secret Things (in case Pooks is reading this) which is why I've been inactive so last night at some ridiculous hour I decided commercial therapy was the answer and ordered a couple full-sized bottles (Yorik, Hades, and Dance of Death) and a few Imp's Ears (Medea, Tisiphone, and Leanan Sidhe) that I will probably ramble happily over when they get here.
i love perfume oils but mostly straight one scent things this is because a lot of perfumes gimme headaches i have one normal perfume i wear (4711 Plum & Honey, technically eau de toilette, one of their unisex line that is just really really good) and otherwise i like dabbing on vanilla scented oil bc i love vanilla. i want to get into perfume making kinda, mostly bc i love herbal smells and getting them as perfumes is hard.
cb i hate perfume has some really nice stuff (burning leaves is especially nice), but ergh, the prices.
I got scents from zomgsmells - a bunch of squees to try out. I really like Rose in Amber.. Dessert Rose smells like really intense vanilla cake on me which I don't like .. Chocolate Orange is exactly as you would expect... Coronal Mass Ejection I really liked but it was a long time ago so I don't remember it? And I got this squee of Blue Dwarf Star and it's amazing, my favorite, but it's an experiment so you can't actually order it. :|
I gotta squee about my skin getting better somewhere and since it's tangentially related to beauty, hopefully y'all don't mind if I post it here. This is what my skin looked like last year. Spoiler: somewhat like a neglected pink potato with too many eyes It was painful and embarrassing! And because of the rough texture, wearing any sort of foundation or concealer just made it worse. But then I saw a dermatologist and got on some antibiotics and a topical cream and now... Spoiler: still pink since rosacea doesn't really go away but SO SMOOTH Hooray! I don't avoid mirrors anymore!
L'oreal has a new lipstick in the indefectible line that is a powder lipstick. color choice is pretty limited right now (they have four, nude, light pink, dark pink and red) but this lipstick is SO MATTE and SO COMFY and SO GOOD AT STAYING PUT and i needed a good no-nonsense red again but yikes 13 bucks is more than i usually pay for lipsticks Q_Q (I say as I have a MAC lippie in my crate) am gonna post pic at some point but yeah I can rec this one to heaven and back
