Re: lip colors I am relentlessly awful at doing all the thousand little things to keep from smearing the stuff and have actually had that stuff survive a date night with greasy food and then come away a bit lighter but still intact from the many kissings which occurred afterwards. It is impressive shit.

i really think part of why i’m really good with little kids is that i talk to them like...just people

 

i don’t believe in talking down to kids too much basically

like, if they don’t know what you’re talking about they’ll tell you

i sometimes dumb really complex shit down a little and i don’t swear around them but otherwise i just talk to kids like i talk to adults?

 

Adults being shocked that I was a thinking being capable of learning and novel utterances rather than a charmingly complex see & say was a significant source of frustration when I was a kid, so yeah, I'd say that talking to kids like people (albeit ones that are less experienced at people-ing) is going to help a lot with making good impressions

 

Yeah, I always hated being condescended to and treated as Lesser Than. :/

 

True story: when I was in sixth grade we had first grade reading buddies, who we helped with...well, reading (and served as mentor figures to). Most of us only had one buddy, but there were 12 first graders and 11 sixth graders (tiny private school), so one of us ended up with two.

Yeah. It was me, because half the fucking first grade class wanted to be my reading buddy. At one point a bunch of them were literally climbing all over me.

They were good kids, Dmitri and Ciara. And Ciara actually grew up in my tiny podunk town—in fact, I ran into her working at the soda fountain this past summer! She’s in college and significantly taller than me now, I’m so proud. ;u;

 

my new phone thinks i regularly use the shrimp emoji because i kept clicking it by accident on account of not being used to where the emoji keyboard is located now :P
