i’m planning on reading pale fire by nabokov (autocorrect: kale fire) and i’m very excited but also mad that i’m probably never gonna be on his level of wordsmithery. lolita was one of the most beautifully written books i’ve ever read (i have a lot of thoughts on people misrepresenting lolita but this is not the post for that) and i just dream of having that kind of sheer mastery of language y’know?

hot take: i know where the dead go to die is often maligned and i completely understand why, but i actually thought it succeeded at what it set out to do (horrify) so at least on that level i actually rather liked it? and honestly i feel like the shitty cg animation added to it--there's something genuinely disturbing to me about really jerky stiff cg, and for a horror movie that actually works for me. it adds to the creepy factor!

(that being said i'm eternally angry that emily youcis went all alt-right. she could've done some really neat shit if she hadn't decided to be a complete racist dickwad instead y'know?)
