Like goth but sparkly! Also lots of fun colors in my case while still fitting the General Gothy Style.

okay this is the dumbest question ever but uh

i have never moisturized and idk what to look for in a moisturizer

what should i be looking for? is it something where the cheapo stuff works just fine or should i shell out a lil more for specific shit?

    thanks in advance! <3

it like entirely depends on how difficult/annoying your skin is and hat the problem is.
like for example i react badly to a lot of things, tend towards redness and spots of dryness and irritation, so most of my things are designed to combat that and contain rose and lavender, chamomile and calendula, or is on olive oil basis, which turns out uhhhhhh mildly expensive but i have just about the most difficult skin you could have.
I'd like make a list of things you need your moisturizer to do (e.g. reduce redness, moisturize, reduce oils, increase oils, contain spf, brighten skin/reduce dark spots, introduce dewey glow, reduce pores, stuff like that) and then look for things that do those things. you can try drugstores first and then slowly work your way up to more pricey shit if necessary >_>
i currently use a lot of all natural cosmetics (lush and yves rocher, but i've used avéne products for psoriasis before) so my stuff's all rly expensive, but i can mostly recommend it

Mostly I need something that’ll just moisturize and maybe decrease oils. My face skin is pretty okay and doesn’t get super duper dry, but I do have occasional issues with oiliness?

that's sadly like opposite of my issues so I can't give any specific recs, sorry! if you look for 'moisturizer decrease oil' on like some sort of cosmetics store website (do you guys have something like douglas in the US?) that might give you an idea of offers and prize ranges?

Not sure what Douglas is, I’m afraid—is it kinda like Ulta? Mid-range makeup shop?

I’ll definitely have a look, in any case! Thanks, Ivy! <3

douglas was initially like a perfume store iirc, but nowadays it's mid-to-high-end makeup and cosmetics aggregate store, kinda like sephora, ye xP they employ(ed) actual cosmeticians who can give recommendations in store based on your skin (ideally, idk if they still do that or if the service is actually any good nowadays)

Sephora is out of my price range, alas, but I can def have a look at Ulta—they’re a bit more mid-range as a rule?

ye makes sense, i don't think we got ulta here, i only have sephora as a comparison point lmao >_>
don't look to closely behind the curtain my terrible sins of spending far too much on skin care and makeup are hidden there
    it's self care, or something

Oh mood, makeup stores are DANGEROUS. (I mayyyy have impulse-bought a metallic matte pink lippie and an eyeshadow palette at Ulta just the other day...they weren’t too pricey at least but STILL...) Hell, the makeup aisles of drugstores are dangerous!

I JUST REALLY LIKE LIPSTICK AND EYESHADOW OKAY.

(Also to this day I am pissed that the black Mac lipstick I got was fucking garbage. I DIDN’T SPEND TWENTY BUCKS ON A SINGLE TUBE OF LIPSTICK TO HAVE MY GOTH HEART BROKEN, MAC.)

oh that's an absolute tragedy, how dare you MAC.
haha spending twenty bucks is still a good deal tho my blurple mac lipstick was like a solid fifty but it's also actually unbelievably good so wow. quality disaprity much....
i need to actually like throw old makeup out and rearrange my literal makeup tool box

Oh God, I couldn’t spend that much on makeup. XD Too broke!

...Although maybe when I have steady work I can shell out for a bunch of uber-fancy black lippies and like. Find the best one. I REQUIRE GOOD BLACK LIPSTICK DAMMIT.

And yeah, the Mac one was like...suuuuuuper sheer (required several coats to have even slightly decent coverage), messy, and smeared off within like half an hour??? It was such a letdown, man. I felt betrayed! BETRAYED I SAY!

The best black lippies I’ve found so far are (one of?) Urban Decay’s black lipstick(s?) and Nyx’s Velvet Matte liquid lipstick in black btw.
I’ve tried them and they’re pretty good, but their lipstick comes in a chapstick-type tube and you gotta apply it with a brush and that’s just...too much effort.

EDIT: If they ever release it in the form of a Normal Lipstick I’ll prolly get it tho
