this will be adorable
....the only other girl character I have now is a selkie. huh
I think I'm gonna go with bitty freshman, so he can be super confused and lost half the time
I don't have time to get into another RP, much as I would like to, but I'm gonna follow this one, cause it looks super cool.
Mind making a summary post of the school? Like its system and the like?
Well I don't have much, and y'all can add stuff/change things
But what I do have:
BU College of Archaic Studies
The BU campus is just one of many locations over the years.
Its a nine year program, from 8th grade to senior of college, and most students are boarders or live nerebye. The dorms are in pocket dimensions scattered around the school. The magical curriculum is integrated into the muggle one, and only about half of the faculty is "in" on the secret.
@kmoss said to just ask here. So - cool if I do a non-wizard?
...like a muggle? If they're not going to school I'm not sure how they'd interact with everyone else.
Underline added to quote for emphasis. If half the faculty isn't in on the wizard part - I was asking the same about students.
so, like, clarification
muggle who trips into wizarding world or hapless bystander who's like
journal: day one: this kid came out of his locker. I'm so confused.
or just muggle living life
Im coming into this late, obv, but im seeing it as an actual college. So a school where you can learn about folklore and magic/historical and contemporary. It just ALSO happens to have this secret school part with actual wizards (allegorically similar to the way the wizard community lives with and around Muggles in general) The character I was thinking of would be a student in the muggle college part.
I wouldnt do it unless I could figure a way to integrate him into the storyline as a whole, before doing that part though I wanted to see if it was even a possibility.
Oh sorry, the 'College of Archaic Studies' bit is the cover-name- that part of it is entirely magical, I think.
The high school is where most of the integration happens, with the older students (equivalent freshman through senior of college) being almost entirely out of contact with muggle classes barring like, advanced math courses or the odd English class.
I should have clarified, but if you explain more what you intend than maybe? Idk.
The faculty who are "in" on it are the magical teachers. For the most part you know about the magic school if you're teaching there or attending there.
I'm so sorry I should have clarified.
I mean it sounds interesting but I'm just not sure how you'd go about it.
Thats on me then. I keyed on the phrase about non-clued in teachers and was misinterpreting.
(Comes alot from me constantly wondering, through the HP mythos, if all these magical students go to school at, basically, 3 schools and are so intertwined, what brings Muggles into the world - like why would you interact with a Muggle enough to actually start a family).
The only way I see this working then is probably too involved to go into. Still interested, will have to rethink character.
Name: Olivia Grimshaw
Height: four feet ten and three quarters!
Hair: she used to have long hair but there was a bubblegum related disaster, she panicked, cut it off, then her Dad panicked and took her to a hair place, and now she has a longish pixie cut with a bit of a curl at the ends. the incident involved a lot of tears at the time but she likes it now, and is thinking about sticking with it. at least it makes her hair stand out, since it's what she calls a kind of boring mousey brown.
Eyes: blue/ light grey
Skin: surprisingly tan! she does spend a lot of time outside, but she never really burns, and she's always surprised at the end of the summer by how tan she actually is
Magic Channel: wand! she's practiced on her dad's old wand because they're pretty similar, but she's excited to use her own - maple, 12 inches, and swishy-with dragon heartstring
Affinities: charms and arithmancy are actually her favorites, though herbology and transfiguration are close behind.
DADA and potions can go Hang though
Personality: very bubbly, but she gets pretty fiery when she doesn't get her way. luckily, she is pretty optimistic, so it isn't a big issue, but she can also be driven to help people to a point where the person in question is all like "seriously leave me alone"
Gale is going to crush so hard
it's gonna be like
one day out of the blue runs up to Olivia, hands her a note, and runs away
the note just says "do you want to help me with arithmancy" because they are too awkward to actually ask anyone out
((plops down in this thread so she doesn't forget
At my school freshmen tend to be 14/15 I think?
thank you so much
i am very old and therefore have no memory of how ages work
(let's be real though, I had no idea how ages worked when I was those ages)
i'm gonna make her shorter too
Benn will probably be super awkward. He is just generally super awkward.
Olivia is just barely taller than Gale
....this is going to annoy the fudge out of Gale
because their friends will be like "ahahaha she's taller than you, even the shortest person in their grade is taller than you" and Gale will be like "she's barely taller than me! barely!" and all their friends will be like "ah yes but she is taller"
