After the heartbreak of 64, I'm so pleased by the Keyleth+Percy sibling moments in this episode. They just love each other so much. That moment when Keyleth says "I've never stolen anything" and Percy quietly says "aside from my heart" just KILLED me. Their drinking with the numb mouth and Percy asking Keyleth to slap him in the face and Vax getting in on the act to poke them in the cheeks! That moment when Vax asks if they would recommend the drink and they shrug and say in unison, without looking at each other, "ehhh?"

I wonder sometimes about how Cassandra feels re: Keyleth. Here is her blood brother, who she mourned all those years and resented and grieved for, and he returns to her changed and with an adoptive sister who knows him better than Cassandra does. Percy found a new family, and Cassandra had the Briarwoods. That's got to be bittersweet.

Keyleth was just a gift in this episode. Delightful and dorky and sweet.

Also I'm kind of amused and concerned by the fact that they know Jarrett is a criminal and nobody really seems concerned about what his crime was. He implies heavily that it was theft, but they get there and find out that he's basically using them as drug mules for an illegal spice, and their reaction is a collective shrug. Maybe I'm seeing this from the lens of Perdido Street Station paranoia.

Aside from eternally screaming, I look at Cassandra reuniting with Percy and I'm a little sad that we don't get to see if all of the de Rolos were snarky, emotionally repressed assholes like them.

Also I love that while they're reading Percy's in-case-of-death-break-glass letter, Vax realizes that it's basically an apology and a suicide note in one and just goes "oh dear." It was so hilariously understated.

Also also, I was managing not to cry until Scanlan said "well, we're not going to let Percy sleep alone." Damn you, Sam!

 

Good Content:

• Marisha trying to convince her fiance to let her do something ridiculous with a druid spell
• When Matt is doing something particularly twisted and Taliesin catches on about 30 seconds before the rest of the party and does the Face
  
• When someone uses a new class feature for the first time and nobody knows what it does but everyone gets really hype
• Liam refusing to break character during earnest dramatic speeches because he is incredibly invested in his OC
• Travis not breaking character ever because Travis is basically just Grog but smarter

So Vex's death and the repercussions are stressing me the fuck out. Can someone tell me if Percy and Vax ever make moves at reconciliation renewing their friendship? Because the anxiety is ruining my enjoyment of the show. Because Vax has a right to be mad, but it's also feeding into Percy's self flagellating tendencies and I just need them to be okay ;-;

There's a conversation in the new shrine of the Raven Queen in Whitestone. Percy asks forgiveness and for Vax to keep an eye on him because he doesn't trust himself to do the right thing. They part on much better terms.
