An AU where the Alternian empire expands so far that it runs into the Federation. Can you imagine though? The trolls are like a cross between the Klingons & Cardassians with a pinch of the Borg. First the deserters who have fled the main fleet arrive, and the control of the empress start to trickle into federation space. Through them, rumors start to spread of a great empire hellbent on conquering the galaxy. There's a few run ins between these outlaws and the main cast as they try to steal resources in order to keep running away from certain death. Perhaps there's an enterprising teal blood who is loosely in charge of the renegades. He has several run ins with the featured ship and develops a kind of repoire with the captain. At the end of season one, after he finally succeeds at one of his schemes and leaves with a vague warning of things to come. Eventually the federation is eyeball deep in an all out war with the Alternian empire. Imagine a mid season two parter where they finally get inside a damaged ship. What they thought was organic brain for the ship was actually one emaciated mustard blood incased in tentacles. They manage to get them back to the ship alive, but barely. Slowly, they realize that an individual who has the ability to send a ship to warp speed with the energy in their body is a huge asset (there'd have to be a more startrekky reason as to how this is even possible). The yellowblood refuses to be revived and starts fucking with the ship. They spend a whole episode trying to send him deep enough into unconsciousness to sever his growing link with the ship. He puts them in so much danger that there's talk of terminating his life. The captain knows how important he could be to their war effort, so he begrudgingly reaches out to the teal blood pirate captain(he's helped and hindered them a few times in season two) for help.
the idea of alternians that are just a little borg-flavored is scary in all the best ways, and oh my god the ethical stuff of a starfleet captain taking a helmsman not because they want to help, but because they are An Asset is...gosh, what a good concept

Some thoughts on Voltron meets World of Darkness... Two years ago, Keith lost Shiro and Pidge lost her father and brother in an accident on a scientific expedition. Keith has always felt that something about the story didn't add up, and when Pidge finds possible evidence of a cover-up, they join forces to investigate the conspiracy. Then they run into their first monster and things get weird. Featuring: - Hunter!paladins! Keith gets a hold of an actual magic sword at some point. The rest of them sensibly stick with guns. - Lance and Hunk as the sane(r) friends doing their best to keep Pidge and Keith from getting themselves killed or arrested. This lasts until Shiro reappears, and then they're all in equally deep shit. - Zarkon as the Fae Lord responsible for kidnapping Shiro and the Holts. - Changeling!Shiro, who was still a gladiator in Zarkon's court and had an artifact of metal and shadow grafted onto the stump of his missing arm. Cannot believe he is now responsible for this pack of children (they are not actually children. Pidge is adamant on that point. Pidge is twenty-two, thank you) who are ready to throw themselves up against Zarkon's forces and get themselves killed. - Mage!Allura, with a primary Arcanum of Life. Sealed in a pocket of unmoving time by her Time mage father to keep her safe from Zarkon for what was only supposed to be a few days. It's been three hundred years when the hunters accidentally release her.
I don't know, I can't really see Nepeta as a spark. Equius, definitely, but Nepeta not so much. On the other hand, I can see her as a Heterodyne, so... rare sparkless Heterodyne and her sparky best friend have adventures? Otherwise, Sollux is definitely a spark, and so is Aradia maybe? Karkat isn't, and is either very proud or very put out by this fact. He is not a minion, goddammit Sollux! And... I dunno, I swear I had ideas for everyone else but they're escaping me at the moment.

On a different note, someone please talk to me about Tamora Pierce/Homestuck crossovers. The game ends, and everyone is suddenly in Tortall. Or the Homestuck characters' perfectly normal lives in the Tortall world. Somehow half of them get entangled with gods, and half of them are really pissed off about it. Actually, the Emelan quartet playing SBURB is something I would do quite a lot to read about. Claspects, okay, Sandry is a knight (of course), Daja is... something space? Tris could be light or void, and I dunno about Briar. It's been a while since I've read the books OR Homestuck, so I'm a little iffy on that.

Yeah, Briar as Life (Thief of Life? Nah, he's more nurturing -- Maid? Sylph? Not Mage or Seer or Heir, Knight maybe? But they've already got Sandry for that.) Sandry could be Knight of Time, but I don't really feel it. Maybe Space for her? What's the class most associated with making things? Witch? That's Daja. Tris could be a Seer of some stripe. Breath? Hell, Void? For some reason I really like Seer of Void for her. Wait, I might be remembering this wrong, but aren't the only players they absolutely need a space player and a knight? To breed the frogs?
