oooh, i didnt think of it in terms of a bolero! that does make it more coherent...............sorta yuki yuna outfits are ridiculous across the board
So my sintra arrived. I've never been so excited about featureless white rectangles in my life before. But it's here now. Being featureless, white, and rectangular. Except for one sheet which had something cut of it. Behold what it has become: It is now a featureless white shape of some unknown type. It will become a piece of Star Wars armor. The first of many pieces of Star Wars armor. So that I can continue on my quest to be a Boba Fett and be part of an official Star Wars costume club full of other Boba Fetts. Or, as the public knows us, "That's a Stormtrooper right?"
My sibling and I have been planning to cosplay as Lup and Taako for a while - we're both TAZ fans and LITERALLY EVERYONE mistakes us for twins despite the fact that I'm two years older. They have worse social anxiety than me, so we decided that I'd be Taako and they would be Lup. Unfortunately this put me in the position of having to somehow craft an outfit for someone with 3000% more fashion sense than me. I had been kind of flailing about it BUT yesterday I went to a clothing swap at my sibling's university and: Spoiler What do y'all think? I still need to get a binder and ears and find accessories including a good umbra staff, and I might alter the wrap to be like a capelet instead (you can't see in the pictures, but it has a belt and a little back panel under the shawl part that make it look a little sweater-y). May also use a different top if I can find something I like with really poofy sleeves. Suggestions are welcome - this is the first cosplay I've done!
So I have apparently lost my goddamn mind and am going to be Taako at this TAZ live show/meetup. I've never cosplayed at a thing like this (only ever for Halloween and not since 2011) so it's gonna be.... something. I have the top half of the outfit but still need to come up with some suitably fabulous pants (I can't do skirts b/c dysphoria). Spoiler: ignore my jorts Spoiler: & my wig, which looks a lot better on a person than on a foam head
I am unfamiliar with the character so: Is the intended effect eccentric fashionista, or fashion disaster? (there is a very fine line between the two) If fashionista, black or dark blue pants, pretty simple with fancy shoes if you can get them If fashion disaster, patterns in colours not reflected in your top half.
He's....both? His outfits aren't described in a lot of detail so people just kinda do whatever. But I'll need to buy pants either way because I only have one pair of Levi's and nothing else. edit: I don't have a specific headcanon either way, personally. I've drawn the boy in both a beautiful velvet evening gown and the outfit from that "what if I don't want to look taller, I just want to look sluttier" post within the span of less than a week.
Well in that case, Solid neutral or dark colour: Max Classy, least risk Solid colour from your top part: Still pretty classy but a bit more adventurous, make sure to test drive so it´ll look good. Pattern with colours from your top: Risky, could be great or terrible. Patterns with different colours: If you´re some kind of fashion genius you can make this work and probably look amazing, but it´s hard and failure will look ridiculous. Also dull fabric will be safer/more classy, sequins or shinyness will be riskier butpotentially more fun
I have these glittery, lace-textured black jeans (that I'm too fat for) and was hoping to find something thematically similar.
Does anyone have any idea how I might make this top? It looks...well, I can figure out the sleeves and hem pretty easily, but I'm not sure how to do the chest and waist?
Buy a slightly-too-big robe or button-down in the right color, wrap it, then pin and sew the wrapped part in place.
Spoiler: makeup & wig test I just need my ears to get here before Friday, that's the last missing piece that will turn this from "local weird guy" into "fantasy elf".
If the netting is an organic material like silk, you MIGHT be able to get it wet and stretch it a little by pulling it onto your head or onto a mannequin head. You can tell if it's silk because silk has a distinct sickly-sweet smell when it gets wet. Alternately, there are wig caps made specifically for long hair that distribute your hair more evenly over your head (so no pinning required) and make wigs fit better. I've decided to just go with black shorts for my costume, the tunic is long enough that it looks like a dress but the shorts keep me from having that "o shit girl clothes" dysphoria.
