http://8tracks.com/fabiansschar/eurovision-2015 Eurovision is a SERIOUS THING and i have to accurately rate my favorites.
@Morven Isn't it? I like this one a lot too! And now I want to hunt up some Cécile Corbel songs. I think they're both Celtic-sounding? Whatever they've got going on there, it's lovely. ETA: Well, it's no wonder they're similar, Corbel's from Brittany too.
my dads ex (who is in fact one of my favorite people in the world, as well as one of my favorite fellow irl aspies) turned me onto father john misty, aka josh tillman. earworm for weeks.
Bugger it, just gonna post the entire lyrics to Little Brutes by the Hoosiers because it's very short and it feels apt to Things. They caught wind of the weak and tied him to a tree today. Paul's father says they're pests destined to just be strays. They broke his little back with a little game they played. Boys will be boys, isn't that what grown ups say? I just stood there, silent, rooted to the spot. Marveling at how brave I'm not. Don't you see it's already too late for them. Where are men of action, can't they do something? The sun was growing faint and slipping from God's hand. The day refused to wait and rushed to bury it's head into the sand. If I could only get up and stand for myself. I have to join the Little Brutes, sadly I'm not bullet-proof.
Lately, I've been in LOVE with Dessa. Fav songs: -Matches to Paper Dolls -Mineshaft 2 -Seamstress -Child's Work -Poor Atlas
I've been listening to Our Demons (feat. Aja Volkman) by the Glitch Mob on repeat for a while. Something about Aja's voice in this song is really viscerally satisfying.
@Valerie, please try not to think that your tastes in music or anything else is too off the mainstream to be appreciated or welcome. I know it's hard to break that habit, but try and remember that we're a group of oddities and most of us feel the same way a lot of the time. I certainly don't expect the things I post in here to be universally appreciated, but I think an atmosphere of sharing our obsessions and loves helps us all see a world just a little broader.
the fan song/fansongparody thread i made is probs relevant to this thread. (pimping it is probs ridiculous when it's on the first page, haha, but... might as well, anyway.)
"No Children" by Mountain Goats Sappy love songs are great but once in a while I want to hear a song about pure, platonic, utterly directionless hatred.
And for a more personal hatred, there's always Killing Miranda's "H8RED", which I have definitely found myself appreciating at times:
Oh, if we're talking angry songs for when you hate everything, here's mine! Warning for very, very frequent use of the F-word. Very frequent use. It is satisfying as hell to sing, though.
