Thanks! Yeah, I always hate everything I make for at least a few days after finishing. Plus the prompt was rather silly and I had no idea what I was doing the entire time, so by the end I was just kind of "whatever."
This song is about NI, but it strikes a chord with me. I was born in the US because my parents were Protestants in the Republic of Ireland in a small rural town, and it was known I would be born deformed (a horrible sin to many of the people outside the big cities in Ireland - a deformed child is a 'punishment from God'). Way too many "the neighbors will hate you" triggers. They didn't know that the fundies in the US have the same view.
digging like you can bury something that cannot die or we could wash the dirt off our hands now keep it from living underground
In the spirit of tumblr's speak your language day: my favorite Brazilian song, soft and warm and full of longing and textile art metaphors (hey @jacktrash , you might appreciate this, at least the lyrics). Unraveling Through every land that I wander All I see leaves me staggered Death spins its thread Of life knitted backwards The gaze that arrests has been loose The gaze that lets go has been trapped But when I arrive I get roped in The braids of your desire. The entire world branded In fire, iron and indifference Life is the thread of time Death is the end of the twine The gaze that frightens has been dead The gaze that warns has been lit up But when I arrive I get lost in The weave of your secrets. Eh Minas, eh Minas It's time to leave; I'll go I'll go far away... The candlewax burning Man making his price The death that life has been weaving The life that death has been having The weakest gaze has been panicked, The strongest gaze has been helpless But when I arrive I get tangled In the ropes of your hair. (EDIT: change the video to a live version I like more, ft. my adorable flower child Roberta Sá)
i have had this stuck in my head for 24 hours and it is roachpatrol's fault because of this and i finally got fed up and went to buy the song but it turns out since we set up our itunes home sharing dealie with seebs as the organizer, i'm not allowed to buy things without his say-so? what a dumb feature, we have to figure out how to fix that but he's asleep right now. so i'm just youtubing it. a lot.
I'm a cheesy classical music nerd, so right now I'm listening to Sergio Franchi - Romantic Italian Songs. Also he was ridiculously good looking at the time: *swooooon
@jacktrash Now I have had "Ashes On Your Eyes" stuck in my head for 24 hours. I hope you're happy. (thank you!)
sorry not sorry lol (you're welcome) i managed to buy it and put it on my 'sperg rinse repeat' mix and i'm so pleased
Catching up on this thread but hey, @Lissa Lysik'an , you mentioned remixes of Poe? It's kinda industrial or something, Saltillo uses a lot of samples, this one is The Tell-Tale Heart.
