it is a potato. it has several human eyes photoshopped onto it. the eyes seem to dart around in terror.

...i find it weirdly kind of cute.............

 

I wish the edited bits blended a bit better. You can definitely see the edges and it takes away from the effect a bit.

And now all I can think of is ways to make it worse.

In addition to the looking around and blinking that they do now, what if they drifted around the potato, just a little bit. Or even better, one of them closes and blends into the potato, and then another one opens somewhere else and starts looking around, like the potato is just spouting and retracting eyes.
Or what if they occasionally closed another set of eyelids, like nictating membranes.
Or what if they sometimes all lined up at once to look directly at the viewer.
