List of people who can't post here: currently empty but there is a shouldn't list that I'm not going to publish.

This is I guess an accountability thread where I post what I did, todo lists, and food logs.

Trigger warnings for dieting. Trigger warnings for alcohol. Trigger warnings for hoarding or other mental health problems.

For a bit of catch-up, I used to strive for clean-eating. It's not so much food morality, but it's cheaper and it avoids the "sensitivity" I haven't been able to track down. I've spent so much on "convenience" food, but hopefully I'll get my act together soon enough that the "cheater" stuff lasts all winter. I also am focusing on pre-prepping souse vide and I think the chest-freezer has enough of that stuff.

This low-spoons tip is going to get copied over, but cheap meat is awesome in the souse-vide. Frozen or not, just throw it in, set the temperature, and eat it about 10 hours later. Side dish is frozen veggies and whatever carb is handy. (The prep involves finding the cheap meat, vacuum-sealing it, ((that's the awesome part because making it ready-to-go also helps it survive the freezer,)) and owning the equipment.)

Today, I froze the ground-beef. I bought it Saturday, browned it maybe two nights ago... everything is frozen except for the last portion, I'm using it to make tacos since its so fatty from everything else draining into it.

I got more to do. Hopefully I can get the rest of the food taken care of. I found an old corned beef that I want to crock-pot this weekend.

I don't know what I did today besides play a stupid phone-game and rewatch two SheRa episodes from last night.

My cat was bothering me non-stop today, so I made the bed and let her pin me down for a bit. I hope she's just still upset because I left for a month. The other cat has gotten obnoxiously clingy to hubby and will actually leave me mostly alone when he's not here. Oh right, cat puked on the sheets so I decided to wash them and had to put some oddments away because I leave junk on hubby's side.

Breakfast was 2 cups of generic corn chex with 3/4 whole milk.

Second breakfast was a palm-size chunk of steak, a bunch of cooked cherry tomato, two eggs, a pat of butter, a bunch of blue cheese crumbles, and a mini-croisant.

Dinner is chicken tenders, boiled potatoes, and I'm going to throw a bag of California mix into the nuker once hubby gets home. He's late and didn't text.

I'm going to say "screw diet adjustment" right now because about the best thing would be to introduce mindless snaking or calorie-track to make sure I'm hiting 1500-1700 in solid/soup food at least. I don't really want to make snaking a habit. I also don't want to force eating beyond "have something" within certain windows.

There were two drinks left in my ration-bottle this morning and I drank them this morning. I didn't refill it until 2:30 and it was half-full at about 6.

Today... Breakfast was a bit of leftover mac&cheese. Dinner was dropping a fistfull of leftover egg-noodle and a fistful of meatloaf, smashing the bowl by kicking it even though it probably survived the initial drop, and then stomping on the mess before having a sobbing breakdown about how overwhelming it is just to run a broom around because of all the catshit.

Today I swept the floor and found a card that has probably been there for almost a year. Still need to get the area with all the catshit, and then mop because the floor is dirty enough to put a flakey layer on the bottom of my feet.

Got my shoes out of the tub, put them in the washer and now they're clean. Drained the tub and picked out as much food as I could before waffle-stomping the rest. I should bleach the tub... or use it as a mop-bucket because I'm not sure if we still have one.

Food was leftover egg noodles and meatloaf, then a tv dinner. I drank a lot of beer today instead of rum. Really need to run the dishwasher, but having a short break from hubby trashing the kitchen was nice.

I kinda wish that I haven't given up smoking... I developed a fear of going outside and the addiction would probably help with that.

Let's see, I mopped up the mess but there's still catshit in another part of the room. My socks are going to be crusty because I forgot to wash my feet. I can't remember how many times I ran the dishwasher. All I ate was a plate of boneless bbq chicken bites.

I took the trash down and left the cart in the parking area... should have texted hubby because he might have come up here for the cart if he didn't notice it. As it was, I hauled the recycles down and helped him with his stuff.

Oh, and I'm so proud of myself that I made a pot of tea first-thing and drank it before my first alcoholic drink.

My foot kinda hurts, but it didn't for a while once I put my shoes on. I don't think the doctor can do anything for it unless it is broken, and I already have crutches if it gets worse.

do you like any particular kinda tea? i only really have coffee for hot warm morning drinks because of living in the south <the only tea offered here is sweet ice tea> but i have heard there is a world beyond this perversion of a rightfully hot warm drink

I'm not really good at tea, but it's not too hard. Basically get a larger-than average mug, have it filled with hot-enough water, and plunk a teabag in. Sweeten to taste but you don't need that much, and some teas are better with milk. (Usually it's black likes milk, green doesn't like milk, herbals generally don't like milk, fruity doesn't like milk, but it's a personal preference.) I can't taste most teas unless there's at least a little sugar, but I'm down to dumping a tablespoon into a 4-cup pot.

I actually have a fondness for pekoe-cut black tea. We're talking the store brands that are one step below a box of Lipton and used to make sweet tea. If you're looking for something to put lemon and honey in, that's the safest bet.

If you're interested in Chai latte, is actually better than the stuff that's marketed as Chai. There's no so much of an overbrewing problem where one spice will get obnoxious, but it's not like other teas in that you have to pay attention to how long the bag is in.

Other than that, just try what looks interesting. The Bigelo 6-tea variety pack is a good place to start, but that doesn't include the raspberry one which is also good. Celestial seasonings is something I don't get anymore because I prefer individually-wrapped bags unless I'm getting the really cheap stuff, but it's also good as an iced tea. Tazo has some interesting stuff if you want to go exotic.

Then you get into the medicinal stuff. Some of them taste weird, some don't. I can't stand chamomile. Peppermint is something you might either love or hate.

i don't have a whole lot of money so it's nice to have something okay to drink that isn't soda <my teeth are very bad because of all of the soda :(>

I think I couldn't sleep because I got overhungry. When I was looking for Chihiro vids to illustrate that I started feeling emotions when I ate, I encountered of a reminder of how much Laputa made me like egg-on-toast. I should have had that.

My rice-cooker bowl was still full of rice from a while ago, and such interesting colors of mold. It got put in the dishwasher.

Breakfast was beans and rice. Take one can diced tomato (about 14 oz,) one can rice (the one the tomatoes came in,) one can of kidney beans (same size as the tomato can) or rinse them if you use black beans, and one tomato-can of water. Season with louisiana hot sauce. I ate 3 bowls today with generous cheese.

I souse-vide a frozen steak but neglected to make dinner, so hubby microwaved himself a personal lasagna and was kinda pissy about having to ask where the rest of dinner was.

I drank two cups of Kombucha, which really doesn't count as tea, and it was probably old enough to be near-beer.

I don't think I got anything useful done, but hey at least less stress.

Added stuff to my triggery songs thread, started listening to things from the top. Reiterating Mr. Blue and wishing I could find Tom Paxton reading it instead of singing it, I used to have a track that led into "White bones of Allende." Also reiterating "Some People's Lives." Going to sidetrack into "Since you stayed here" but I got so antsy that I started working on the dishes. Gonna skip the "Sing" soundtrack and maybe head back into Simon and Garfunkle if I run out of stuff in the triggery songs thread.

OMG, it is so nice to have my dishwasher properly secured again. It isn't trying to fall forward when open and it's easy to close again. I was so happy when the maintenance guy blamed the damage on the installers not pre-drilling before screwing it in. (I don't remember actually doing anything to damage it, except that maybe I was trying to do housework while upset and accidentally using way more force than I should have while closing it once.)

I made real progress on doing dishes. Then I made chicken soup from a carcass. Then I accidentally messed up the cat's jump so that she hurt my husband. (My back was turned, so I'm assuming for-point landing on his arm.) He threw a small tote of various cold medicines across the bathroom before I could answer "where are the bandaids." Then I smacked the wrong cat for trying to demand attention.

I don't think it's about ruining that specific shirt. Alienware swag from when I was trying to network to be a peon in the animation industry, so it shouldn't be a special shirt other than somehow lasting that long. It's replaceable and I'm the one who is overattached to items.

I think I only did one dishwasher load today but guess what... unless hubby or I go crazy in the middle of the night and try to cook something major, I might not have to run the dishwasher tomorrow.

I made porkchops and added the flour too soon, and splashed gravy all over the stove. Oh well, it needs a cleaning anyway.

And I put a 3' high pile of books on the shelf. No sorting, but it's an improvement. I also repiled some banker's boxes. I could probably fit that crap into half the volume, but I need to throw away.

    So much crap.

Books are on the shelf, mostly. Not sorted, but the piles are up.

I had gotten the okay from hubby for it to be a scrounge day, but that was before I had the leftover pork curryish stuff for breakfast. He made spaghetti... lots of spaghetti. As in the whole package and we had to use one of the big containers I got for bread dough to store the leftovers. I also ate mashed potatoes and gravy for lunch.

I forgot to wash the stove, so hubby had to wipe the burners off. I still need to wash the stove good. And the dishwasher did need a running. I forgot if I did it this morning, probably not, but it did need to be run at least once today.

Cat knocked a tinful of shotglasses off of the window ledge, it sounded worse than it was because nothing actually broke.

I didn't get much done. I think my IUD is finally giving out or else I'm just in ill health.

Hubby bought too much milk, so I made chocolate pudding. It's funny how quickly it turns from chocolate milk into thick. No eggs, but I guess that's what the cornstarch is for. I dropped a thermometer into the pudding... the electronic part of a probe thermometer. Hubby rinsed it off and put it in rice, so maybe it's not broken.

I also made pork curry with peas.

I'm behind on the dishes again.

I need a new show to watch.

Breakfast was... hubby cooked the entire packet of sausages and then asked if I wanted any, I tried to use grateful language to indicate that I did want some. I would have settled for a 4-2 split but I got 3 sausages. I put two eggs on the counter before the sausages were done and said "I want eggs when you're done with the pan" which could have gone either way and I would have been happy with both outcomes. He fried his eggs for breakfast, gave me sausages, and the pan was perfect for me making my eggs exactly to fit my mood. I toasted the heel of bread because that was what I wanted and the bread happened to flip in the bag so that it was on-top, the container of cream cheese had just enough scrapings where if I didn't want to mess with it, it was going in the garbage and I would have had to go without or open the other container, and hubby left it on the counter.

I was a bit unsure about driving at first because I'm so out-of-practice. Temperature was above-freezing and had been for days, just I hadn't really gone anywhere but the grocery store. I wond the streets to get to the goodwill buy-the-pound to drop off this 3D printer that my husband designated as trash....

OMG, I asked him to check the box to make sure it had nothing but stuff that could go out, told him I was taking it to Goodwill, he told me that I needed to get the actual trash like small flattened cardboard boxes out first. I just slapped my thighs at him. And then bitched at my mom, who was in my headphones off-and-on through the whole day. (Most of the buildings that I was in are kinda faraday-cages for cellphone frequencies.) And I just dumped that boxful of mixed cardboard trash and broken electronics into the donation bin. Gentler than what I would have liked, because I didn't want to damage donations.

Mom just got done with an estimate to paint her bedroom. The ceiling and walls are plaster, but modern drywall-seaming techniques are the best way to make it acceptable, my parents spent 10 years figuring it out in other rooms. She got man-splaned and then quoted 4x what she expected. I told her to pitch a local H4H and actually give them money to make up for her not needing that level of charity.

Between the winding streets, I stopped at BigLots. I got wrapping paper and soda. (Mom yelled at me because I don't call coke/pepsi/rc "pop" anymore.) I had an altercation in the parking complex where a guy making a left turn stopped and tried to let me through when he didn't have a stop sign and I did, and the guy behind me honked, and I accelerated hard enough to realize that while hubby and I now have the same phones, the dashboard clip will not accommodate the differences in our cases.

OMG, between Big Lots and the Goodwill store... I like that road. It is a good through-nowhere road.

Goodwill Buy-the-pound... I found a few things I would have bought if I knew the price... there was a book, a sphere ice-mold that needed a run through the dishwasher, this weird ceramic collectable that deserved better than being in "the store where I can find worse things than I've literally dug out of the trash" and "things that I wouldn't dig out of the trash" and "things that I wouldn't even think of digging out of the trash." I think there's a hoarders meeting tomorrow and I'm going to spend a few minutes yelling about how someone should have dragged me there 6 months ago to see the horrors of what can be donated. I should have dragged my mother there before she dragged me back to her place for my voluntary de-hoarding her home because I derived as much benefit as effort last fall. (During one meeting with the hoarding coordinator, back when he could do donation runs, I actually specified "Goodwill Buy-the-pound" because they said they would take my VCR with the damaged tape-door and other junk that wasn't the refrigerator. If only I knew, I would have written "working motor" on the inside of the mini fridge and saved myself a lot of angst.)

Anyway, I called my mom back because she wasn't with me in the store... I asked her to navigate me out of that industrial complex because my phone map wasn't much good without my phone on the dashboard. She was mostly safety. I got out of that weird area and back to the road with multiple names, managed to turn the right direction at the right sign just by reading the map, mom mostly served to reassure me that I wasn't going NNW when I should have been going Southish. (Last time I tried to go to the mall without using the highway... I finally figured out that the road was U-shaped.) Another delightful road once I got away from the part where the wonderful road had too much stuff. And suddenly I was in that weird area by the mall.

Sam's Club didn't have the artist set that I didn't impulse-buy last month. I would have bought some gloves except that it meant having to make mom pay me back for renewing the membership. I was glad that I had bought a collapsible tote box for the car because I ended up using to to carry the four bottles of coke from the car; also so I don't lose my purchases in that junk-heap.

I impulse-went to this other store... Big Lots was wrapping-paper and cola, (and a text that we shouldn't get SIL a cotton-candy machine for XMAS,) Goodwill was a drop-off only, 3B outlet was a snow-brush and an advent calendar, and a temptation for too-expensive plush unicorns, (and a nixxing on mom's idea for getting her photo-frames, and my idea for getting BIL the stupidest and most-thoughtful coffee mug.) (I paid cash for the snowbrush and gave hubby the reciept if he didn't like it. He didn't feel it was worth the bother of returning it even if the store had better brushes for just a few bucks more.) Sam's club was just angst and dissapointment. Trashy outlet...

At trashy outlet, I was looking for winter gloves and a thneed. Eventually found better-not-great gloves. I found a journal that I was $3 in love with and told mom I would pick it up if I still remembered it after shopping. I found large horsies at $15 and started carrying one around because it was almost a $40 unicorn. I dumped horsie in a bin with other animals, looked at the centipede and didn't like him, mom and I still have very strong memories about buying a stuffed snake at a garage sale, the cargo van catching fire, she dragging me out and me whining about the snake I haven't even gotten to play with. (The van was fine, it was just wires. It's not like the dog-food in the carburetor was the problem that time.) ((Usually, mice putting dog-food in the carburetor would cause performance-issues like making it hard to start unless you pumped the gas just-enough.))

I picked up an elephant instead of horsie and determined to buy him if he was just $15. Lady at the cash-register had some sort of asian accent but I got irritated because she came off as chipper, she commented that someone was going to be very happy on christmas and I just didn't correct her because there was no point to disrupting her construct. I might not be embarrassed that I'm buying a plushie for me, but the next person might like the lie even as he's anticipating posting to r/plushiphile. Cashier-lady also probably enjoys the construct and not being told that an adult might like a plushie.

For the record, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with my blankets balled up into a makeshift body-pillow. For some reason, I'm against getting a proper body-pillow, but I have been open to everything else. (I used to own a giant Sullivan. I got him in California for really cheap just because he was wearing a Santa costume in January. I had to carry him through an airport and that memory is worth more than I paid for him even though I just shoved him into a space-bag as soon as I got home.)

Anyway, I didn't eat since breakfast, didn't finish my Arizona tea but it helped keep me going. Hubby was heating frozen leftover curry from a month ago when I got home. I told him there was leftover rice, he said there wasn't enough for the both of us and I told him to go ahead. I drank and I'm not hungry.

Oh, I found a better route to the highway from the trashy outlet. And a really cool abandoned house... Actually, I should have demanded that I take photos of that one abandoned house I noticed while mom was driving to her friend's house.

And I found out that a bunch of fabric-things that I remember from my childhood are still things, but they're just not things in Virginia.

I was struggling with the collapsable crate full of stuff that was heavy because 4 liters of pop and a giant plush elephant. Nice neighbor with a medium dog let me through the mailroom and pushed the elevator... then I suddenly got the idea to get my dolly from the parking area before dragging my purchases all the way to my floor. So nice of a lady, she held the elevator while I got my dolly. I feel bad for not picking up the almond that she's been keeping her dog from noticing for two days.

Yesterday, I finally made that corned beef I found in the freezer a month ago. I went grocery shopping in the evening and overbought meat again, but there was barely any corned beef left. Basically I had half a head of shredded cabbage in the freezer that also had a bit of onion in it. I threw that and the frozen corn beef in the crockpot and added water.

I gotta hit the kitchen hard. I'm planning frozen burger patties with bacon and cheese.

I don't know what I did today, or the last couple of days since I reported last. I convinced hubby to take care of dinner tonight and tomorrow. I gave him the choice between curry and stir-fry, had both cooking vessels handy, was non-too suttle about asking him to cut up all of the available chicken and he put half into a glass casserole. He gave in because I was whining about my shoulder but recognized that there was a difference between "can't chop" and "bad enough to need a doctor." I tried to express gratitude. Then I handed him the rest of the veggies for the curry and he did everything but the rice and stirring it. Asking me to keep an eye on dinner isn't a bother because my computer is less than 5-foot away. I didn't eat right away and he warned me that the sausage he had me grab made the curry spicy.. I decided that I would eat the other 1/2 of liver tomorrow and let him have the entire curry, still express gratitude again, I think... I had liver today and cooked it better than restaurants but doing it like that works better for chicken liver than beef liver. I guess chicken stir-fry is weekend lunch.
