Romancing Fenris. It is a rival thing. Anyway...Fionn Hawke is a smartass of an apostate. One who started his life in the city by working for smugglers. And then over time just kind of generally associating with a wide variety of less than reputable characters. He is generally an open and caring fellow, though his sarcasm can sometimes hurt people by accident. And his insistence on giving everyone a chance has annoyed more than a few of his friends. He does take justice into his own hands quite frequently though, and has an open and flippant dislike of the templars. When pushed to it he's also rather harsh in exacting vengeance. There isn't a chance in hell for those who harm his friends and family. Not even remotely. He's also sadly gained something of a reputation for mercy killing people. Including most of his family. In terms of people he gets on with he gets along with Varric and Isabella most easily. They too are wise cracking shitfucks who get up to some shit. Anders he generally gets on very well with though when they disagree they disagree very, very fucking hard. He's especially pissy about Anders butting in about his relationship with Fenris. As things go on he is getting more and more grumpy with Anders' shit and has begun to suspect that he might be plotting something behind their backs. Fenris he respects and cares about a lot. A whole hell of a lot. Just Fenris also happens to be someone he very rarely if ever agrees on shit with. Merrill he had something of a hard time getting along with at first given his stances on spirits and blood magic. They're now friends and he's rather worried about her. The woman never leaves her home just about. That is deeply concerning! Aveline is a bro. The broest of all bros. While also being the no-fun police. CARVER IS DEAAAAAAAAAD. A fact that made him sad. He picked on his little brother a lot lovingly and now he is dead. He wanted them to go on the expedition together. To be brotherly partners. And Carver died because of it. Also I was tempted to restart as a female Hawke to romance Merrill after I met her. I am glad I didn't. Partly because Fenris and partly because Merribella is great.
I love the idea of a Tranquil Inquisitor!! I was thinking about making one after I'm done with my other playthroughs, because I have an asshole Templar Trevelyan that served as captain in ostwick and how fucked up would that be. I think @Mercury has done a Tranquil complexion mod, but i don't know if it was released. have you checked the nexus database or the daimodder tumblr? Merrill's romance is adorable with a female hawke, and so is isabella's (with a male hawke... not so much.) I ship merril/fhawke/isabella like burning, that's how my semi-other-canon hawke goes and no one will convince me otherwise. ETA: SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, BUT: i dont know the ethics of pointing to fanfic which makes you go "???????????", and i surely can appreciate the guts it takes to publish fic because mine are still hidden away, password protected and encrypted, but... have you guys... seen... this...?

On the subject of weird fic: That just reminds me that I found a necrophilia and gore Merribella fic and I went YES HELL FUCKING YES AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. That wasn't so much "hell yes" as much as a "why this baffling subject matter????????", which i admit is awful of me. the one that really makes me feel like an incredibly shitty person with horrible tastes is a bull/inquisitor fic where he manipulates the inq using a D/s relationship to make her a puppet of the Qun, which has some parts that are dubcon at best.

I don't know what it is that makes josie attract these weirdos, because my adaar has terrible manners and has probably deadlifted josie trying to impress her at least once, and has definitely done something like casually uprooting and tossing a tree. she's a mage and her makeup is always magnificent, she doesnt need that.
For Saoirse it's because of how she acts. Josephine has been the one person in the camp to ask how people are treating her. As well as the only one interested in her about her culture. Being the sociable and generally likable ambassador nets you points with fucking weirdos. Also she's yet to try and stuff the Maker in her face so that's a plus. "Don't you have room for one more god in your pantheon?" No, Cassandra. I really, really fucking don't.
This line from Cassandra's dialogue made me super sad-angry at her - it's so absurd and offensive to ask that of a dalish elf, considering the history of the chantry. cassandra should know better, but her faith doesn't let her have the most minimal connection, sympathy or understanding to the situation of a dalish elf at that moment. i do love her and my canon inquisitor ended up in a friendship with her and all that, but i always wanted to have the opportunity to grab her and go all sensitivity training on her. or just. introduce her to merrill.
Merrill would kill her with kindness. i'm so sad she never quite gets through to anders and fenris, because by god she tried.

I did release it! I need to remake it to not change the specular so it has half a chance of working in Trespasser (and even then it's probably lol no), but it should work fine as-is otherwise. I have a Tranquil!Inq playthrough planned out, myself. :3 No romance, because she's going to be mean and fighty and BURN THE WORLD DOWN, and also I'm going to turn the fairweather friends trial on because people would be weird about a former Tranquil. It's entirely possible her only friend will be Cole because he's the only one who doesn't get upset at her mood swings. It's going to be great! I just have to get through my other three playthroughs first...
Oh, man, I missed that Cass line because Berit was determinedly agnostic. Now that I have an actually Dalish Lavellan.. I am excite.
God I hate that line. I just want some way to reply 'Not if that 'one more' demands that you pretend all the other ones don't exist, then no.' Or something! It's especially annoying because my Lavellan is deeply devoted to the Creators, and she would not just stand there like she couldn't think of some reply. I also really liked that bit where you wander in the mountains. I actually ended up writing fic from my Lavellan's perspective about that very thing too, just because of the way it was animated.
Ugh, I am too adhd/executive dysfunctional to read and process all these awesome thinks on this thread today (I'm reading half of theses posts backwards because wtf eyes). I really want to write/structure a DAI plot arc that addresses the pacing issues with the game, patches up some of the lackluster missions, and makes the atmosphere darkening on a consistent trajectory. Would anyone be interested in reading something like that or basically joining me in the sandbox of making it? I know a lot of stuff has been tossed about here on this thread, but I would like something more consolidated.

So - I haven't read Trespasser yet, so don't spoil me - I'm intrigued by Solas, especially after I read By The Still Waters (AKA the best fic, go read it). But I had no idea what the ratio was of stuff-emilyenrose-made-up to stuff-from-canon (and she hadn't played Trespasser when she wrote it either.) I'm learning so much with my Solasmance Lavellan! For example, he gets SUPER INTENSE about how much better the world would be without the fade. In the second conversation you have with him. Edit: I also haven't played further than the second conversation you have with him yet, and I don't know very much about his romance except that it's sweepingly dramatic, so like... Well, obviously this thread is theoretically Full Of Spoilers anyway, but if you're replying to this post and spoiling his romance, don't tag me :P
