Thank you! I got a little nervous about posting them because the art in this thread is intimidatingly good...
@Picori Oh my god if you are offering, I would totally maybe like Ivy (aka my kintsugi in space!sona *points at icon*) drawn in a halloween-y fashion? They have orange hair and pointy ears and blush green and have two pairs of canines and probably would look cute as a witch :P
I already posted two pictures of my gemsona over in the dedicated gemsona thread, but I'm gonna crosspost them here so I can show off the development! So I started with wanting to do turquoise, but it's too popular a stone. When I learned about faustite, which is basically turquoise but more green (due to the extra zinc), I was like score. Spoiler: Example of faustite Between turquoise being neck chakra and the neck being associated with taurus, I knew where the gem was going. I really wanted to incorporate the fun of a shawl cape swooshing out behind me, so I made a shawl/net her weapon. First design was based off a pic of me, but in leotard and leggings and headband. Spoiler: leotard, leggings and headband... and shawl cape! But I wasn't satisfied with the design, it didn't have enough of the spiderwebbing and lumpiness that I wanted. So I spent a while thinking about how to emphasize it, and checked some of the gemsona design guides people have made. One talked a lot about thematic shapes in the character design, and I looked at the stone and the headband. Gold crescents between the ovals of limbs and curves could do it! I sketched out a paper version, then neatened it up in Gimp: Spoiler: Faustite, the gemsona And now I'm pretty happy with her design. :) Comes out looking slightly like a puppet, which works for me.
did a trade with someone and drew their character as a chibi. this was not suppoed to be so elaborate BUT brain said 'okay but you gotta'
@Void, how do you get your coloring and shading so nice? Like, what's your secret? (Asking you specifically because we both draw fairly cartoony stuff and I think your advice would probably be the most helpful to me personally as a result, but if any of the other amazing artists in here have shading tips...)
Hm. It's a lot of which specific program I am using at the time, combined with which brushes. For that drawing, the whole thing was done in mypaint, most of the coloring was done with a brush labeled deevad/brush, which is a somewhat fuzzy pressure sensitive brush. for the blending i used a different brush that i think is labeled... deevad/basic digital brush smudging. for the shading i just used a layer over the coloring set to multiply, and used a very, very light blue to contract the red. i then smudged a bit of the shading here and there. doing the shading itself i used the deevad/brush like i did with the coloring.
For my Halloween icon on tumblr I drew a lil witches hat on my normal icon, which is Xion from Kingdom Hearts, and convo with friend led to Spoiler: Lil Witchy Xion
i uh. made a new character? he's some sort of drag queen cat demon??? with one arm??? i don't know what to name him. i might use him in some gore drawings.
More Goretober. This challenge does wonders to my self-esteem and I'm super pleased with how determined I am to finish it c: Spoiler: 14. Plant growth in body Spoiler: 15. Emaciation Spoiler: 16. Painful Transformation Spoiler: 17. Backstabbed (literally or figuratively) Spoiler: 18. Acid burn Spoiler: 19. Toolbox Injuries/Robotic Parts/Prosthetics Spoiler: 20. Parasite
@mrozna holy shit your style is extremely pretty Like I love the way you draw faces and hands and everything. Do you have something like artbooks or comics or some such thing one could potentially purchase?
I use a tablet! I draw traditionally too, but not as much as I'd like to. And gosh, thank you! ;u; AHHHHH thank you omg And I'm planning to turn some of these into merch! I'll post about it here and on my artblog when I'll get around to doing that. I'd really love to make a little b&w artbook that gets progressively more disturbing with each page, but it's been a long time since I made anything booklike and I'd need some help figuring it out.
Spoiler: Alien farmerrr Just finished this today, and am very happy with how the bg turned out! Even if it was originally just gonna be a picture of this character of mine wearing a rainbow plaid shirt because reasons. It got so out of control omg There's still problems with it (like I intended the character to look 17-18 but he looks more like he's in his 20s whoops), but whatever, I'm still happy
