30 minute speedpaint, playing with square brushes for the first time in years. I used to doubt but I am totally a believer now damn.
made me a candy apple trickster knight. >U> p sure thats more sopor than caramel at this point but whaaaaatever. heart eyes, motherfucker
Ugh, finally changed my avatar. This design keeps popping up, and I'm not even sure of its gender, sexuality or even if it cares.
my mouse isnt working, so i'm confined to my lil bamboo friend, and i sort of wanted to draw a dude? i usually never draw dudes Spoiler idek if i'm going to finish it, this is why im posting the sketch, cause seriously there are so many anatomy mistakes i cant even begin to list them. also my style of drawing faces is clashing so bad with everything aargh
now that the bulk of finals are done, dailies return for like a week! Today I remembered why I really shouldn't draw people without using reference it namine from kh ugh the sketch looked so much better how do i stop making stuff look like stiff garbage when i clean it up
@Carnivorous Moogle For a hot second there I thought THAT was the Pale Man's finger-eyes from Pan's Labyrinth, and was all like &!:*$ where's the rest of him!
I keep trying to figure out how to colors and failing :/ but hey, I'm getting there. Does anyone have any pointers?
@bioluminiscence Doing a way better job than I can. So, uh, no pointers, just I really like all the soft reds, hair and expression is charming.
@bioluminiscence What are you unhappy with in that drawing in terms of color? What would you like it to be more like?
Spoiler: WIP, taking new tech pen set for a test drive just drawing the first chapter cover for a comic nbdoh god I'm actually doing the thing
@autopsyblue I feel like the colors aren't natural enough and also too disorderly? I mean I can get the shading about right but I feel like there isn't enough contrast and that there's too little divide between soft shading and hard shading, which is a thing that I really need to work on...
I think those are fair criticisms. One thing I've learned as I work with color more is that eventually your shading replaces your lines. So if you put a line down there should probably be a distinguishing section of shade or a different color to one or both sides of it.
ok I actually sorta like the ink for this so ima post just the ink before i ruin it with color. also i'm coloring tomorrow because my throat is trying to tell me i'm getting a finals cold i think. yay illness in hindsight now tho i like most the face (for once, god i'm bad at faces halp) but the lips feel.. wrong. not sure exactly how
