My mom did a spectacular job of keeping me out of the blast radius of her family's missing stair, despite the fact that said missing stair intimately involves herself in just about everything the rest of Mom's family does and for a while was angling to butter up me and Sibling. I had no idea how much of a bullet Mom helped me dodge there until I was twenty.
