i just finally saw the previous tom holland spiderman, i think it was? the one with vulture. i think they made tony too much of a douche and a dumbass, and then excused him and happy from any culpability for it, which bugged the hell out of me. like, i absolutely get not wanting to endorse a 15 year old fighting crime. but tony already put that kid in mortal danger once, blinded by his anger at steve, and now he's just... not going to acknowlege that? and you trusted that kid with your superhero vendetta and a seriously overpowered super suit, but you don't trust him enough to let him finish a sentence when he tries to alert you to criminal doings? i like tony being flawed, but i don't like him being a fucking moron. :/ i did love vulture, though. i love the way he was ruthless but not malicious. he was a criminal, not a villain, if that makes sense.
this iteration of Spider-Man was good because it made you sympathize with the vulture. You know he isn't gonna win, but you can want him to.
i decided to just go ahead and spoil endgame completely, so i'm reading the tv tropes page for it, and uh... is bucky even in this movie? he's not in this movie, is he.
Spoiler: In case anyone wants to avoid Yeahhh, not really. He's there for like .5 seconds to have a callback with Steve at the end. He probably did a sick flip in the big final battle, bc everyone did, but I honestly don't remember and I did see the movie twice.
bluuuh. so Spoiler: i guess it's true that the mcu got so scared of stucky shippers that they had cap suddenly start acting like the friend he was willing to die for through most of the series just... doesn't exist or matter now. what. the. fuck.
Spoiler Well, there was one Bucky-less scene where Steve mentions Bucky being alive to distract past! Steve during their fight.
Spoiler: they broke it i wouldn't sleep with my best friend if he was the last man on earth, but i still wouldn't treat him the way cap treats bucky at the end of that movie. that is the most extreme no homo ever pulled by a movie franchise. they just destroyed his whole character arc. edit: AND PEGGY'S. she had a LIFE. she had her own series! and now she's just Reward Princess? fuck that noise!
I found the time travel shenanigans in Endgame mostly delightful, and there were some badass fight scenes and good team moments. but man what they did to Steve's arc was just criminal
Avengers (MCU) AU where everything is exactly the same except for james b barnes goes by jim instead of bucky (I couldn't find a 'ridiculous AUs' thread but I'm fairly sure it exists, in lieu of it I'm putting this here)
Got back from new star wars, and the trailers in the beginning had great news. BLACK WIDOW MOVIE!!! I was so excited that I collectively lost my entire shit and may or may not have startled a few other movie goers
Reviving this thread to say: Holy Hell The New Doctor Strange Is Excellent! I felt sort of let down by the ending of No Way Home, but I left this movie feeling the way I like to feel when I leave Marvel Movies :D
