BNHA fandom... There's constant Bakugou discourse and none of the takes are good. I agree Bakugou's relationship with Deku is abusive, but that tends to be where the dialogue ends. That is, there's a lot of yes he is no he isnt yes he IS no he ISNT that seems more about what to do with that information - whether certain things are 'allowed' - than discussing the abuse and its effect on Deku who gets a lot of personal character issues ignored as a result. And just doesn't get a lot of meta in general. There's one side: Bakugou is bad, liking him and shipping bakudeku is bad/makes you homophobic And the other: Bakugou is good, can't be called abusive bc he's a teen, and if you don't ship bakudeku you lack critical thinking because it's the most important relationship And little middle ground. Meanwhile, I'd be good with some bakudeku if most fans who shipped it weren't campaigning so hard for it to be seen as healthy when it's abusive and super Unhealthy and while I was initially receptive to the ship the amount of fluff glossed over the top of it makes it something I don't like seeing anymore because fans can't be critical and if you ask bakudeku fans to be more critical bc you'd LIKE to see more works that discuss the matter of abuse or handle their relationship in a compelling way there's such an ongoing anti vs non anti fight that people are just like... If you're asking us to think about abuse in context of the series go back to your purity castle.
God yes. That and the huge backlash it gets for sexualizing the female costumes. Which yes, is not great. But that's a really common thing in anime and I'm getting sick of people doing the whole 'and I would NEVER consume such FILTH that has teenage girls in revealing costumes.' 15-year-old Zero woulda been a nightmare to these people. I wore super low-cut shirts and dresses all the time. I think that's part of the reason I'm not super bothered by it.
this isn't a really real gripe, but. a couple weeks back there was a Supernatural episode about discount eldritch horrors where one of the characters gets chained to an alter and accosted by tentacles, and I am shocked and appalled at the deluge of porn it didn't spawn. or at least, only like two people wrote fics on AO3. it's weird, I figured this fandom would be chockablock full of perverts who'd leap at the dude who's, weirdly, totally canonically into tentacle porn getting canonically put into a scene straight out of a tentacle porno.
i'm shocked 'cause, based on what i know of spn fandom, they should be on that like white on rice i mean, they're the fandom that invented a/b/o and apparently their kink meme is/was wild
huh, that's. i thought teen wolf unleashed abo, but looks like supernatural predates teen wolf by like a whole lot of years. well! learn something new every day!
Spoiler: brief mentions of bestiality apparently it came about 'cause the rpf side of the supernatural fandom wrote a lot of bestiality fics 'cause they liked dog dick and then they were like, "what if humans had dog dicks?" and then they added awesome worldbuilding to it and tada, a/b/o!
There is no worse time to be a tcg player than during spoiler season and in a discord with other players of that game.
This exchange: aondeug: Given that we've entered into the confusing hell of timelines definitely. We simply must look and we shall find it. Because time travel's fucking stupid. Besides, maybe Reiya just decided to like take Fieth's advice. Fiethsing's dead. Don't live in the past, there's nothing there. So Reiya gets with Gill after the whole TSW situation. Why would Fieth want her lover to be miserable and entirely focused on her forever if she's going to stay dead dead? Why would a Zero that finally gained the conviction and hope to do what she did stay so trapped in the past? People can have multiple romantic partners. At the very, very least the Lapis cluster shit does strongly suggest Zero/Fieth was a thing canonically at least during that period and with that particular Zero and Fieth. or you could be like me trapped in almost always non-canon OT3 and polyshipping hell give reiya a husband a wife. AT ONCE. callinurbullshit: No actual confirmation that Reiya = Zero, and just because you have a hard on for poly- stuff doesn't mean a character does. Maybe try to consider what would be appropriate for the character's personality instead of forcing your fetish onto them and making them lose personality and just be a sex object. And no, just because people CAN have multiple partners doesn't mean they will. aondeug: We don't have actual confirmation but we do have a lot of material in Lapis cluster that seems to all but spell it out. Hence why I and several others are going with the theory until it gets disproven. That's how theorycrafting in on-going fictional works go. It's just the nature of the beast. Also Zero's a fictional character. Her feelings are not going to be hurt by you shipping her with Peko the Wise Dolphin on account of her not having feelings. I could ship with a fucking rock if I damn well pleased, but instead I'm thinking about how she might've ended up from one partner to another based on her character lore and personality. Which you seem to be very concerned about. Like, wow, it's possible to have non-canon ships of the poly variety that do take into account character personalities and lore to a degree? it's almost like poly people are like people wtf jumped up this person's ass and since when is zero a real person with preferences fetish wise also lol on polyamory being a fetish
…okay is it me or does that person not actually offer any reason why they think poly relationships would be super OOC for that character? Except that they think it's a ~fetish~ that would make her ~lose her personality and become a sex object~ which is some kinda bullshit and makes me break out the ~sarcasm tildes~. At least back up your bullshit with some attempt at an argument, dude.
I really don't fucking know if they do. Like I can see Reiya/Zero being strictly monogamous and at least during Lapis cluster she was exceptionally clingy towards Fiethsing. But honestly nothing about her personality says one or the other. Granted, I also view poly people as like...people. There's no reason someone like Zero wouldn't potentially be poly. Like I at least brought fucking shit with me. Namely that if Reiya is Zero then she's a Zero post-Lapis cluster growing of a spine and post-hearing Fiethsing declare that she's dead and people need to move the fuck on because the past has nothing. If Reiya is Zero, which is highly likely for a variety of reasons I will explain if people wish to hear, then she's a Zero who's finally gained some semblance of confidence and peace. It'd also be a sign that she was finally able to let go of Fieth. Not because she doesn't love her or because she hates her or something, but because honestly Zero does need to be like a healthy individual person and someone that can live without her wife. This is something Fiethsing cared about a lot. Freedom is her single most important value and she wanted her family to have it. Reiya shacking up with someone else and having another kid might just be part of that. Who knows! But it is thematically consistent with that.
Like that I ain't even got any proof for cuz I don't care. Fieth is one of the few super confident fun loving queers I know in fiction. I'd want her to be a trans person too.
i agreed with them on anakin and then disagreed on kylo why do they understand the first one so much better than the second?
Because they got to know Anakin as children first and we have a series of movies that very explicitly redeem him. Anakin also has the 'literally a slave' talent. Literally a slave is apparently easier to read than creepy child molester man.
Maybe it's inappropriate to ask in this section of the board (though I don't know where is better to ask...) but I haven't seen the new film and I've heard lots of mixed messages. I'm tending towards being sympathetic to Kylo even if I didn't immediately hit it off with him because characters who have stories about being groomed as children etc tend to be automatically sympathetic to me. However, I've seen people say the new films don't really give us anything concrete and we don't get much concrete information about Kylo. Essentially: are they right that audiences are mostly reading into (p clear subtext) or is it made more concrete in the second film?
