Also, if you want Redwall fics, I'd also suggest Tea Time (horror) and None the Wiser (comedy). I know the writer, she's very cool.
Clone High, Joan of Arc/JFK/Cleopatra It's really good! Sadly the only finished trio fic but I enjoy it a lot merrier the more (triple fun that way) Rated teen and up, College AU (ending retcon), 10,560 words
For those of us who remember Twitch Plays Pokemon, here's AO3 Plays Doom But can it run Doom? by gifbot [EDIT]: Here's the guy giving a short talk about how he built this.
Does anyone have any good BHNA/MHA recs they can throw at me? Specifically of the kiribaku flavour, and not by aloneintherain (who I already love and follow)? I have a craving :>
Heart That Matters More by dancinginthecenteroftheworld Lots of chapters, updates regularly A modern, small town AU of Game of Thrones. Very gentle, mostly fluff, some drama, people get therapy. Also so much food. So much food.
Stag Beetles and Broken Legs by Aryashi and relationshipcrimes 12/12 chapters [Hollow Knight] After the Teacher's Archives, Quirrel isn't quite sure what to do with himself. Relic-Seeker Lemm at least wants to know the story behind the priceless old nail that Quirrel is lugging around. TW: Suicidal ideation.
Friend of a friend recently wrote a one-shot adjacent to the Protectors of the Plot Continuum universe, featuring that reality shifting thing the kids are up to these days: A weird if ultimately forgettable dream
I'm pretty sure I got it out of here in the first place, but Sansukh recently dropped its final chapter. 577k LOTR fic (primarily movie continuity, but pulling from others as well) ft. a bunch of dwarven ghosts hanging around commenting on everything, beautiful worldbuilding, and gratuitous well-researched Khuzdul and Sindarin.
The F Word, by Went. An ongoing series about Pearl saying fuck. Lots of humor and a surprising amount of feels, and pitch-perfect characterization!
I Wish You Were My Husband by Feynite Scum Villain's Self-Saving System AU in which Shen Yuan transmigrates into a very different kind of harem novel – less heterosexual power fantasy, more suffocating societal pressure and terrible, terrible marriages. (The author's also written quite a few side-stories in the same verse that focus on side characters, backstory, or post-canon events, which I'm currently making my way through.) A friend recommended this to me as having great Yue Qingyuan characterization, and—it's a great fic in general, I mean, but god, it seriously does have the best Yue Qingyuan. He's trying his best and it's awful and I'm so glad. <3 Shen Jiu and the entire SJ/YQY dynamic are similarly perfect, and I also really love their Liu Qingge and Mu Qingfang. (Honestly, I think the only character I didn't like the author's take on is Shang Qinghua.) There's also a lot of lovingly-detailed worldbuilding, which I eat up with a spoon. (This fic's explanation of Xin Mo's origins is canon in my heart, tbh.)
I have to second the feynite rec, and also feynite's writing in general (I shoved so many dragon age fics down my throat, when I know nothing about dragon age, and by the end I was frantically combing their archives for fics centered on an OC/OC ship). Their qijiu writing is so, so good, whether they're at the foreground or not, and i've got... three? longfic wips that are aus of their scum villain aus. I am distracted with bookbinding, but I am so invested in feynite's scum villain writing Spoiler: bookbinding. large. I also bound the main story twice, though i got distracted while setting the extras, because i want to capture the worldbuilding comments too, and there are So Many. At this point, I probably need to backtrack and do better typesetting, tbh, but this was near the top of my bookbinding priority list
Thirding the Feynite rec, both that specific work and their work in general. Spoiler: some late-game SVSSS spoilers One of my surprise favorite Feynite works is a single chapter Scum Villain AU genderswap simply called A Change of Genders, in which f!Shen Yuan transmigrates into a terrible reverse harem epic with fairytale elements. I am morally obligated to mention that the terrible story is entitled My Immortal Demon Way. She is quite dismayed to find that she is playing the role of evil stepmother Shen Qingqiu, whose maid Luo Binghe was discovered to be the long lost daughter of her new husband Tianlang-Jun, on their wedding day no less, completely overshadowing the ceremony and also her. The original goods was real damn bitter about that. New and improved SQQ is far more concerned about redeeming herself in the protagonist's eyes enough to not die a terrible death, and if possible she would also really prefer to not be married to an unhinged demon lord whose best trait in her opinion is his prodigious absenteeism. One of the things that I particularly enjoy about MXTX's writing is when she creates these extremely romantic scenes, often in ways that feel surprisingly organic, and no matter how much you may be facepalming, it's still not actually hard to believe that certain characters are either totally oblivious or utterly convinced that there must be some mistake. Feynite pulls this off wonderfully, making absolutely iconic use of opportunities afforded by an f/f fairytale AU. They also do an excellent job of conveying how SQQ's situation would naturally look to LBH without making SQQ seem unobservant or unintelligent for not understanding what the reader does.
Fourthing! I really love Feynite's unreliable narrators (sqq grieving in I Wish You Were My Husband is very fun) and the sidestories/spin-offs are super fun as well. Every single thing set in the... I can't remember what the title of the novel is, but the novel sqq transmigrates into for I Wish You Were My Husband? The canon-verse of that? Those sidestories are good and they hurt real good :D
thanks for the recs! i read I Wish You Were My Husband yesterday (sqq grieving was great), was v enjoyable :D
Some Other Road by Izdubar. Atsushi receives a low-level mission in the days after the Guild's defeat, and does his best to do the Agency proud. This is one of my favorite fanfics, and one of the few ones I could find with good Mori characterization. I'm always looking for more good Mori fics so if anyone has any recs I'd love to read them!
Oh my gods the expressions are so good. I was already familiar with the fic it's based on, so I love how they put the focus on Papyrus, aspiring author, and the face journey he goes on in the course of writing his grand novel. :')
I've been getting into Pacific Rim ship, Newmann Old hat I know, but hey.
