@Bel Capricorn The Disciple? Well, it's kind of baseless, but a lot of ancestor characterizations are, I feel like. Well, out of the three Leijons she's the one I see being the most like a cat- she's a bit moody (though she hides that) and likes to sleep and probably is the person in Signless's clade who has the most violent impulses. She feels like her base nature is completely opposed to the Signless's message and she kind of believes she's not worthy to walk with them, because she's the one who calls for the death for the highbloods, violent war against the system, ect (a role she pinned on the psiioniic when she started to rewrite the scriptures from "the journals she used to take notes on his sermons" to "a Holy Text pained with blood on the walls of a cave.") In order to feel more like she fits in and belongs, and also to hide how she feels, she tends to act very chipper and sweet. She's pretty impulsive and quick to action when danger (or perceived danger) arises, which tends to surprise people who meet her as "the mutant's sleepy shadow." I used to hate Signless/Psiioniic but now I've kinda leaned into the spin. All of the references to them transcending the quadrants were in her scriptures, after all, so I kinda headcanon that she was the one who felt that way towards him, not the other way around (maybe he did that with Psiioniic and she envied that? Green with envy, after all.) She changed a lot of stuff in her Scriptures, especially when she grew older. Her works started the real deification of the Signless into the Sufferer. Basically I characterize her as someone with issues of feeling unworthy, of thinking that she might actually be evil and just hiding it very well, of someone who feels out of place and useless to her group, and is someone who bottles this all up under a chipper mask because they don't want anyone else to know. Which is kind of extremely my jam, so jar of salt.
Eh, they seemed to get along pretty well, in a friendshippy way. But consider the following: Blackrom Vriskaradia.
I am considering and I like what I am considering but my precious Handmaid ships. Like Porrim<3The Handmaid and Rose<3The Handmaid and The Dolorosa<3The Handmaid. They all end in tragedy if they even become relationships at all. Probably tragedy. maybe one time the tragedy can lead to not tragedy. But only once. Also the Handmaid is all stand offish and like "Observation. Feeling. INSULT. rinse wash repeat" mentally. Though the insult part tends to be vocalized. WHAT IS FRIEND MAKING??? The Handmaid does not know but it seems to involve being punched in the face and then punching back. this is how romance works But Aradia<3<Vriska. Or just Aradia ships in general. Fuck. FUCK.
Equius is my forever favorite for reasons I find hard to describe. I relate to him, heavily, on multiple levels, including his weird kinks, but also just... the all of him, as a personality, even with his absurd and awful opinions on bloodcaste and his terrible reflexes on when to be passive. I do know that I kind of love that he's the weirdo freaky strong one with a temper who is also the team medic, a vegetarian, and has never tried to kill another troll onscreen (a distinction only shared by one other of the primary trolls-- Karkat-- until Game Over hit). He's so passive and quiet and unharmful despite all the things he's wrong about. (I did use to love Gamzee, back before Murderstuck; I had hope for him for a couple years after Murderstuck, that he was on 'Aradia's Side' and was ushering along the proper timeline and just enjoying the show; then we got to see more of him and how his relationship with Terezi went and nope. Terezi herself was my First Favorite, because the hilarious Ace Attorney investigation/murder larping charmed me to bits, and she's still p high up on the list, but my list of favorite characters at this point is basically "anyone not a scorpio or named cronus".) For ships I have an armada of favorites, but Karkat is the one I ship around the most and most easily-- I will ship him with anyone, seriously-- and I like good Equius shipfics, of which there are far too few. Equius/Karkat is good, Equius getting bossed around by hot ladies is good, Equius in Terrible No-Good Super Awful Pairings is probably the bestworst thing I am probably way too into.
No wait, ARQUIUS tho. He's pretty much just the absolute worst most awful parts of both equius and dirk, with neither of their redeeming qualities and amped up to 11 in ways that CRACK ME THE FUCK UP. It is amazing A+++++++ trainwreck would popcorn again. Edit: also thank you for verbalizing why you like equius so well! I 100% concur and also have never been able to say it properly.
See, I actually really DON'T like ARquius, because I feel like all the things I really relate to about Equius' passiveness, awkwardness, and having to ask to try and learn what kinds of interactions are okay-- and I really feel he doesn't know, because he's trollautistic or because his in-person socialization would have been mostly with Vriska (and that is not who you learn to treat other trolls well from) or because highbloods aren't supposed to have the troll emotion called friendship with mutants and rustbloods and all that or whatever reason-- gets buried under the terrible parts of AR. Where Equius is like, "Is that not okay that I violated your emotions/mind because I wanted you to like me? D: Is this the part where we hug each other because we are friends? :? " AR is like, "Yeah, manipulating you and forcing you into a sexual situation that you're wildly uncomfortable with? That was for your own good, Jake" and it kind of freaks me out that AR is so certain that he is correct all the time, and the combination of the two just makes me want to hide and cringe until he goes away. Basically I can't stand him for the reasons you love him! Hahaha. /offers hi5 across our divided opinions?
Note that i like equius as a *person*, and arquius as a *character* (similarly to how i like cloris from the boat trolls). These are very different responses.
Oh and Rose. Man I love Rose. She's actually a scientist. Like, Jade has a scientist aesthetic and Eridan talks about science a lot, but Rose is the one who actually goes and does experiments and tries to figure out the underlying rules of the game. And the guide she made based on her findings helped the trolls win! All of this is awesome. I wish more characters were curious like that.
I can confidently say Terezi is my favorite, and Terezi/Vriska has been The Ship for me for years. Honestly, though, I love most of the characters so much it feels pointless to pick favorites beyond that. I guess I'd say Dirk, Kanaya, Dave, Rose, PM, and Calliope are up there as especially close to my heart, and I ship the heck out of Rose/Kanaya, Dave/Karkat, and Roxy/Calliope, but beyond that half of everything blurs into similar levels of "I like it and think it's good", eheh.
NICE my favorites are karkat, dave, and jade. they have a lot of qualities and problems that i see in myself, and watching them grow and develop beyond their problems (except for jade largely sob) is really important to me! beyond that, everyone else is at this kind of "they're good" level, except for the couple of characters i really, really hate. but that's not what this thread is for! my favorite ship is, predictably, jade/dave/karkat. i wish it had more content, but writing it myself has been fun as hell too! i like their dynamics when paired off into the standard OTPs, and i like the idea of jade kind of...aggressively enthusiastic when getting into the OT3 :p
As my icon probably gives away, Sollux is probably my favorite character ever. The motherfucker is so relatable. Also you can't beat that style. Favorite ship has gotta be Solkat. I have far less justification for that.
feferi is!! another everything-i-want-to-be type fave for me and i love her lots and lots oh gosh ;; she's happy and lovely and precious and important to me!!! otp is any ara/fef/jade/roxy combination :D
Terezi is my favorite, followed closely by Dave, Rose, and Roxy. Ship-wise, I don't really have an OTP, but I tend to like Karkat/Dave/Terezi/Rose in any combination or arrangement of quadrants. I love Terezi/Vriska unless it's somehow written as healthy. In my opinion, properly done Terezi/Vriska is always a quadrant-smearing train wreck that ends in bloodshed, explosions, and a body count.
