But lacemaking is awesome! What kind of lacemaking? I've looked at some crochet patterns, but bobbin lace looks entirely too complicated and I don't think I could do cutwork at all.
So I'm trying to clean out my craft/fabric hoard, and I stumbled onto some ancient cross-stitch projects that I'm 99% sure I'm going to toss, but it cracks me up to get this confirmation that I never had sophisticated taste in my cross-stitching ways. Okay, the first picture isn't actually very old. I started trying to do a cross-stitch (of curlicue's papercraft of my fanart of ceuleancynic's fanfic) like a year ago, but I haven't touched it since last summer. The DMC palette wasn't doing good things to the skin tones, and I started it at a size where I'm losing too much detail, especially in the faces, so I'm bailing on it. The next two are okayyyyyyyy, but I wouldn't make these design choices if I did it today, and the finished projects are kinda boring for the effort it would take to frame them. And as for the fourth, oh my god, I am not hanging a trollface in my actual house in this day and age. Spoiler
The scarf proceeds! Hm. Think it would be uncouth to cross-stitch the Sith Code with a border of asphodel and red carnations? Glittermurder aesthetic.
I love them very much. <3 The scarf is fun! I'm not sure if I'll get it finished by the end of vacation though. ;;; Must knit moar. (Your handwarmers are next in the queue!)
does anyone have any advice for trying out entrelac stuff? I REALLY want to make a scarf but I am fifty five kinds of intimidated @_@ I've got all the basic stitches down, and I know how to do basic cables and er...some basic lace knitting? ...actually this might be above my paygrade, but I'm trying to find a pretty (and unusual!!) style of scarf to make as a gift... EDIT: Here's my current project!! Spoiler
I finished my exams this morning so I spent the afternoon and evening making a last minute bday present for my best friend! I'll put it in a pendant frame tomorrow. Spoiler Any resemblance to real flowers is coincidental, lol. I don't know how to embroidery so this is very winged.
Bobbin lace has long been the ONLY kind of lace I'm interested in. Bobbins. Bobbin bob. I need to find that toilet seat lid and start work on turning it into a pillow...
Finished! I cut the fabric too small for the pendant in a fit of dumb because I forgot how these pendants worked, but superglue seems to have fixed it well enough. Spoiler: Pendant
Last weekend I decided I would teach a 6 year old how to crochet. I got her bulky yarn and a bigger needle. I think actually using the needle is too fine a motor skill for her, but she's manually pulling the yarn on and off the needle and it's working. Of course, it takes longer, but eh. So far she has like 6-7 rows of a scarf done! We also did a bunch of pony bead animals and characters as a break and now I need to go buy more purple. xD
I tried a new technique for making my hair extensions, and I'm really happy with it. Usually I make my monster yarn, felt it, then cut and dye. This time I tried dyeing the wool first, and the candy striping is making me super happy :3 It's gonna look awesome installed. Spoiler: Possibly gigantic picture
.... do you possibly do these on commission? I've been looking for double ended faux-dreads for a while since I just need a relatively small batch and this is really cute!
I absolutely do! I generally charge $2 per dread and I can do just about any color combo in any length Spoiler: Here's another possibly huge picture of a set I did in the same dye bath for a client
ahhhh! I will think about what I want specifically and PM you maybe ocne I have figured out? Or do you have an etsy or something?
