One warning, depending on what instructions you're following, they sometimes tell you to handwash your project when you're done. Don't wash projects with black fabric. There might be a way to do it safely, but I don't trust anything anymore. I did my undertale cross stitch, went to wash it, and the black fabric stained the white floss dirty pink :p (but what you have looks awesome! I like it a lot!)
Thank you omg. My instructions do say to handwash! I think they're just a generic set of instructions the seller sends with every pattern. (And thank you!)
It can make your end product look smarter because it shrinks the holes in the fabric but agreed, don't risk it with non-colourfast materials D: (Guess who still feels like a dumbass for staining that project with fabric pen and water)
Crossposting from the tf thread, because look at this fancy cross-stitched asshole who's finally finished! Doing this with 75 colors was... a mistake. That was a lot of pain and suffering. But man, how can I even be mad when Starscream came out looking this pretty! It doesn't photograph as well as it shows up in real life, but DMC has almost nothing in the way of true grey colors, so this whole thing is an incredibly subtle rainbow. This is definitely the hardest project I've done yet, but I am so, SO pleased with how it came out.
I can knit! And by knit, I mean I know the knit stitch. That's it. But that's enough for this very very fluffy garter-stitch cowl that I made for @Kit, and it's the first thing I've finished before that is more complex than a potholder, so I'm still kinda proud of myself. ^_^ The lighting doesn't work to show it well, but the yarn is this really pretty cream color with a strand of gold worked through, and I really want to work with this colorway for something else. (And I didn't quite manage to finish off my last skein, muahaha!)
Okay so I recently did a photo dump on facebook, so it's time to do one here! Spoiler: mermaid blankets I can't remember if I posted a picture of the last mermaid blanket I did, so here's that. Here's a progress shot of the current one I'm working on. With bonus parts of my dogs And also something I made for my friend's birthday: Spoiler: adipose from doctor who Hmm, I think I've actually posted the rest here already, lol.
:3c my mom also teaches nationwide in the USA at needlework seminars and retreats, her schedule's under the teaching information tab on her site if anyone here is interested in/goes to those!
Heya! @Anomal(eee) started one of the angels today too, at my request! I wanted the BE NOT AFRAID one right by my cozyplace for anxiety days.
Man, people who can do cross stitch by eye. Ridiculous. You can see the pink spots where I was blotting out what I'd done and I had to undo about 20 after doing one row twice.
when i crosstitch i lightly color in all the squares with blue pencil first. it's not foolproof, but it's better to realize i missed something with the pencil rather than with an hour of embroidering.
