I normally get a hard copy of the pattern I'm working and pencil in the squares I've already done to keep track of where I am, but I wanted to get started, don't have a printer, and it's a fairly small design, so I decided to go for it. ...You may notice, if you look at the picture Kit took, that I was in the process of fucking up the eye and had to redo the right corner of it, but as long as I'm double and triple-checking as I go, I'm usually pretty good* at working from small patterns I can't mark on. *not intended to indicate total lack of upfuckage, backtracking, and/or deciding that a given stitch pattern is "close enough" to the original. ETA: I'm having a lot of fun with this pattern though @roach! :D Thanks for sharing these; I think I'm gonna end up making the whole trio.
I frogged my sweater sleeve AGAIN. this one sleeve has taken like three years and here we are back at the beginning once more.
I've been doing embroidery lately, since it's too hot to knit. And I am deep down in that hole. >>; ... that last one is barely started; I have nine more guide lines to put in, marking section boundaries, before I actually start. And the instructions start with "sew 156 four-sided stitches", so uh, it's gonna take a while. XD It's a reproduction of this: http://webapps.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/explorer/index.php?qu=ann lawle&oid=110562 also please stop me from trying to design a Pernese band sampler
Did my first finished object post on my blog! Tiny knitted bags are like potato chips, you can't just have one.
what are people's fave cowl/neckwarmer patterns? i have a skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca and some 6mm circs, ive made this one a couple of times now but i'm not feeling it rn. probably because i've made it in heavier yarn ans bigger needles, so its not as light and airy as in the pics? i also have some 4mm circular needles, i guess i could just pick up the 5mms that's recommended for the yarn lmao
I finished the thing! and added some details, because I had room left (also @roach i'm officially in love with these angels and am probably going to have a small flock in different complementary color pairs now that I've done the blue/orange version of this one so. :D) Anyway, here it is! (modeled by @Kit)
Hrm. Can I get an opinion on design stuff? Spoiler Trying to figure out how I want to embroider Magikarp, along either side of those pokeballs. I want to use this general style... For the scales, I'm thinking of going with either a slightly different shaped version of the wings on here... https://www.luzine-happel.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Mückenstich-und-Waffelstich.jpg Or maybe a slightly differently shaped honeycomb stitch. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/d7/1b/f2/d71bf20650e26ff7644868f0c0dba471.jpg Probably just satin stitch for the fins, and then... ugh, I don't know. Maybe something else subtle with satin stitch, like http://www.berlinembroiderydesigns.com/images/tssongbirdcloseup.jpg ? Thoughts would be appreciated, if anyone has them! (... Or suggestions, lemme know if there's a pokemon or emblem or anything anyone wants me to try to play with.)
