I wish FF14 had cross server grouping like WoW. I much prefer FF14's better graphics, story, and Roes, but I wish the quality of life stuff that WoW has these days would be in the game.
AFAIK duty finder draws from the same data center, but sadly there is no way to group up manually :( it sucks bc I have friends on three different servers and finding time to play w all of them is hard.
Oh, I stumbled on an interview where the devs mentioned they were working on a mobile app where people could be on FC chat/linkshells while away from their computers. Which sounds really cool!

Spoiler: rambles about these loser edgelords I had to come up with personalities and names for them for a private rp plot and I got attached. Warrior/Midlander: Hannan. Named after a bot we unofficially adopted. After doing the lvl 50 Warrior quest in game, def looks like he's losing control to his soul crystal :/ Anger Problems McEdgelord. Actually used to be a decent guy before things went to shit. WHM/Lalafell: Relulu. No nonsense Mom Friend (TM). Constantly exasperated just like a real healer :') Has unrequited feels for Hannan. Is grumpy about it because love is stupid and gets you killed. PLD/Roe: Sylbzoeng (it means Silver Tongue) Cool Dad (TM). Dad jokes. Hanging around Hannan too much makes him act more like his younger, more impulsive self. BRD/Miqo: Korolon (dropped her clan letter.) Cynical and gay for BLM. BLM/Elezen: Ozanne. I'm p certain the BLM is supposed to be a dude but the outfit is so gender neutral it's hard to tell. So I went w/ the Elezen lady from the 1.0 opening. Because why not. Quiet and patient. Girlfriends w Korolon.
OK i have words now Spoiler: Spoilers for MSQ mostly obvs THE GOOD: I NEEDED THIS. I needed that happy ending. I needed to see that Haurchefant and Ysayle were still with us and giving us strength. I needed to save someone after losing so many people. also I finally got my anima weapon this morning, and I was already kinda headcanoning a spirit for sword AND shield, and pretending they were those two... I was a little embarrassed because I started sobbing uncontrollably to my party members over skype at that point. Aymeric is too pure for this world. Midgarsormr finally speaking up and scolding his grumpy child. Alphinaud my precious son!!!!!!! I was happy to find out that the fight with Hraesvelgr was a test and not because he was angry at us. I named the WoDs because I honestly didn't expect them to ever be given names. And of course I get immediately jossed. It was kind of a pleasant surprise. (also i managed to get the PLD's eye color wrong. was the lighting in the fight cutscene i used for reference that weird...) All in all I was really pleased with this patch. Off to explore some more new stuff, like Mhach... THE BAD: our party for Nidhogg...it wasn't too bad, we wiped about 3-4 times but I expected that. But the SCH wasn't helping heal as much as he could (my friend was WHM) and I'm i210. The Trial is i205. Even though I'm paladin, I was taking heavy hits. At the start I ask the other tank, a WAR with all 230-240 and midas stuff, if they want to tank bc they'll probably pull off me anyway. They've got the Midas weapon and I only have 210 augmented eso. But they go "no, you do it". So I'm like...ok. after a few wipes I notice it's approaching the time that my computer kicks me from the game every hour. (the most annoying problem ever that i haven't found a solution to, but at least I can predict it to within 5 minutes) So I tell the party. Ask if they want to wait for me to dc and return or let the WAR tank. WAR puts on tank stance, I OT. I don't dc for once. We clear it that run. Talk to my healer friend after, she says he took way less dmg than me and made it easier on her as healer. So...why the heck didn't he MT to begin with? (sigh) this is probably nitpicky, but I was so excited to see Estinien w his helmet off and... They made him a custom model, which is like ok except his face looks completely different from the helmeted one. And sadly I know this because I spent a lot of time getting screenshots from under his helmet so I could draw him. and then recreating his face in the character creator, because his model was originally made with it. For comparison: (left to right: my recreation, screenshot from post Aery, screenshot from end of 3.3) Even assuming i made a mistake, 2 and 3 don't look like the same person at all. I was kinda fond of the fact that he wasn't very pretty. Did Nidhogg give him a facelift?? Ah well. The WTF: Hildibrand continues...to be Hildibrand...

I am SO TRAGIC apparently the last valentines day event had a SUPER ADORABLE hat, and I wasn't playing to get it. :( just gonna have to hope it's available net year too i guess
Oh nooo :( well, they seem to be putting event stuff up on Mogstation with a year delay, at least. I'm thinking about buying that huzzah emote. (Also I did last year's Rising on every alt of mine EXCEPT Nen, so I may shell out for the Yugiri and Ysayle minions if they show up...)
