Hi I am new here. I made alts on Ultros and then moved them to Balmung at the urging of my friends who play the game. My main is a catgirl Archer, currently at 26, and I am very distracted by All Of The Crafting Classes. I RP her as having a moderate-to-severe case of ADHD. I also made a Tiny Mage (Lalafel Arcanist) who is a reference to my City of Heroes main. Main story is interesting but occasionally very, very JRPG.
Spoiler: for old stuff but i don't want to ruin anything for newbs like me. spoilers for the Heavensward main scenario Christ I'm super messed up about Haurchefant dying, I loved that guy even though literally everything about the quest line leading up to it was screaming HAURCHEFANT GONNA DIE. Oh hey, I have also begun Crafting Hell. I tried out a couple classes back when I started the game, got to maybe level 20 and then hadn't touched them since. ...then I recently finally got my own house and my server's housing item market is crap so I'm determined to make all my own furniture now. I'm slowly leveling everything at once so I can use the same set of gear since I have no inventory space, as usual... @Hobo Spoiler I was spoiled for it and it still messed me up real bad D:

haha, believe me, I know. but that's not going to change anytime soon so... I did do a purge of glamour items I've been hoarding and that helped. also I'm being v careful to only obtain more or less the exact amount of mats needed, and selling everything asap. In other news, I has a shiny now:
I am sending my retainers out to gather me crafting materials, and then they get XP and level up, and I can craft them new gear, but that requires more crafting materials. Then *I* level up form crafting the new gear, and can make more new gear for myself, but that requires more crafting materials. Thus the cycle continues. (Also, I have been a GW2 player for so long that Limsa Lominsa is never going to be anything else than "discount Lion's Arch" to me.) Also here's my catgirl so far. Spoiler: big image

I will say for anyone who's still working on their anima...do yourself a favor and wait until they nerf the 230->240 step because that was utter torture. 80 umbrite, 80 crystal sand comes out to 24,000 lore and 36,000 poetics/or a lot of shelling out for materia, leve spamming for amber vilekin, etc. At least you can get sand multiple ways but umbrites are only lore. D: Was the shiny worth it? I...I don't know...but it sure is shiny. I just never want to see Aethero Research Facility again in my life. ...anyway when 3.5 hits we should totally do a cross server party night. I don't mind helping w old content if there's anything people need done! Edit: also I'd love to try rping. I've never done in-game RP before, only IM/forum based, and I've been too nervous to jump into the Balmung scene with total strangers... More stuff bf I forget: in case anyone missed it previously, we do have a Kintsugi Linkshell on Balmung, and I can make one on Adamantoise if anyone else besides Nai or Aki plays there. Just let me know if you want to be added! (Ppl can always PM me about in game stuff if they don't want to spam this thread. I promise I don't bite, I'm just very excited about this game.)
I have grumbles about some things in FF14 but goddamn I love my characters and how I can get them to look.
Yeah, it's within data center only, but still nice! There will be an option to make a password-protected party finder post so your friends can join you.
The data center restriction is mostly in line with what is the case in WoW, so that's not too bad. I can see the data demands in bandwidth and latency being too much between data enters.
I just wanted to note how much I adore the Hildibrand quests. They're fucking hilarious, and I consistently love the side characters who know that he's completely incompetent and love commenting on it and the fact the world of Hildibrand is where sense goes to die, particularly Ellie and Cyr. Just great. I'm sort of regretting doing them now, though, considering they're unfinished until next patch. Definitely preferred the option of doing all the quests back to back like at level 50. Beautiful.
