Spoiler: final coil spoips I don't think Phoenix necessarily contradicts it, but it adds a level of confusion to primal lore at minimum. Louisoix describes the phoenix as an ancient symbol of rebirth, and it was born from his and people's prayers for deliverance and/or salvation at Cartenau... but the suggestion seems to be that he was the only one thinking in terms of the Phoenix with his prayers, while everyone else's were more generic in the sense of not wanting to die and/or not wanting the world to end (and iirc weren't necessarily a "save us, Louisoix!" thing)... but he still specifies that it's the combination of his and those other people's prayers (plus the buttload of aether leftover from trying to summon the Twelve) that brought it into existence. So assuming my memory of those cutscenes is accurate (and I won't guarantee they are, my memory is complete trash), it sounds like only one person is necessary for the idea of the primal to take shape... and that person can be the one becoming the primal. Who can also exist as they actually were as some sort of weird ghost dude for reasons that are unexplained (unless it has to do with Bahamut's tempering of him???). The rest can just be randos just wanting something that the primal can theoretically give them. Honestly, primal lore is confusing as shit and they keep on adding bullshit that makes it hard to interpret what the actual rules are (primals can temper other primals??). I think that's why it's hard to say how much there is to the theory, because the rules can easily be seen as all over the place, with the exception of them needing at least 1 prayer/wish, and more aether than most people would come across on a regular basis. I hope they lay this shit out a bit clearer in Stormblood, tbh.
@Meagen Image I didn't play 1.0 myself but iirc there's a mix of old and new characters. All the main people (Minfilia, Thancred, Y'shtola, etc ) were in 1.0, and had similar roles wrt the city you started in. Plenty of the minor NPCS are new. There's a Miqo'te in caster gear named Una that shows up and she's eventually joined by an Elezen and a Roegadyn, and if you talk to her she says her memory is messed up. The three of them are from 1.0 and it's implied they were affected by the memory wipe stuff from the Calamity and everyone forgot who they were... Otherwise its deliberately ambiguous whether the PC is the same one from 1.0 or a new person pushed into the same role, in order to accommodate both Legacy and new players. People with Legacy accounts (a.k.a. ones from 1.0) do get different dialogue at some points where people recognize them from before. Otherwise you just remind everyone very strongly of the old Warriors of Light.
Spoiler: coil stuff now that you've said that I'm wondering if Louisoix/Phoenix *are* more of a Ysayle/Shiva deal and the reason why Bahamut was able to temper him is that he's still a person, just one that can channel Phoenix, and has his aether being held together by Bahamut like Nael was. (Which is why he'd disappear once Bahamut did.)

I'm just incredibly happy that they're making it so you can invite people and do things when your chocobo is summoned. That system was fucking ridiculous, and good riddance. Edit: Also that god damn gas mask. I need it. What class is that for? I need it, and will force myself to PvP for it if necessary.
I thiiiink the MGS-look gear is the new dungeon gear? So it should drop from Sohm Al HM/Baelsar's Wall. It's the GARO crossover gear that's going to be PVP, iirc. Yess, the chocobo stuff is great.
welp, it happened, i finally reported someone for harassment. (i did once before but it turns out you can only make a report if you are the target of harassment, you can't do it one someone else's behalf) Spoiler: details cut for people who would find it upsetting I've gotten weird comments before because I play a max height/max muscle ladyroe so sometimes random guys (or at least male characters, but they're not rping, so i can only assume) will make comments that aren't...explicit but make me go "ok can you go take your size kink to someone who consented to participate in it, thanks" Edit to clarify: i certainly have no problem with size kink, i have a problem with randos assuming I'm interested in rping their sexual fantasies without, you know, asking beforehand. I was minding my own business fishing today and someone came up to me and started doing explicit custom emotes at me for god knows what reason. Because I totally pay $15/mo to escape the real world and get sexually harassed in a fantasy world, too. Blacklisted them, reported after some mishaps where i accidentally deleted the message like 3 times. I just wanted to say i appreciate the swift and courteous response from the GMs about this, and I hope it gave that guy something to think about.
In addition to Discount Lion's Arch, I have now visited Spookyraven Manor (Haukke Manor) and Basically Skyrim (Coerthas). The latter is still a couple levels too high for me (Level 32 Bard).
They actually used the Haukke map for the last halloween event and made it an actual haunted house, it was pretty great.
Holy crap this game is FUCKING AWFUL to try and farm gear in. I take 2.5-3mins to get the first boss of Halatali hard down, I've been running that a combined total of 3 hours... not including the few hours I spent farming the entire instance when I didn't realise the other bosses didn't drop what I wanted... and I've only got 1/2 of the items I need. If I never see a pair of protector's sollerets again in my life it'll be too fuckin' soon. WoW dungeons could be bad but usually not THIS bad. God damn.
ahhh yeah...I once farmed Toto-rak for a mask and it took AGES. I think the number of class-exclusive gear pieces make the probabilities for a certain piece to drop horrific. Like the loot tables for each boss are just...too big.
Yeah, I'm so glad I don't need specific pieces of dungeon gear... Though if you ever need healer gear, run with me, I always make at least one piece drop and usually 2-3 on higher level dungeons. RNG really wants me to healbot.
I am a glamour fiend, it is pain and suffering. in other news, I manage to hit 60 Monk bf maintenance and I can finally wear this :D :D
@Enzel Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Too much gear per boss. Like... the first boss drops both items I needed, and he has a loot table with 10 bloody different items (the other bosses have 8 per chest). It's ridiculous. Good news though, on my very last run before the maint shutdown, my stupid darklight sollerets dropped so I'm done with that awful place. Now I just need to get my friend to craft some master armorer stuff for me and my get-rid-of-this-ridiculous-arse glamour will be complete. Also damn, looking good! Congrats! Monks seem to have the best options for glamouring from what I've seen. Most of the DRG stuff I've seen has been silly by comparison. @Starcrossedsky Haha, I wish. I saw so many healing pieces dropped I was wondering if it was a sign that I'm the wrong class. Then again, the tank boots were a constant companion also. Both of them tormented me >:(
@Hobo I get tank weapons on my summoner constantly. I actually kept the DRK Titan weapon even tho it's untradeable, b/c I like it. DRGs really don't have great glamour options, it's true. Nor do tanks much of the time unless you want to be a tin can of some sort or have a gag glamour (make Enzel show you their WAR glamour sometime it's great, beach tank). Fortunately I am a caster and I tend to love caster gear, so I'm good. I'm actually really torn up about how much I like the lore main-body piece... I'm glamoured over it for now but as soon as I get a PS4 and can upgrade it to the dyeable form... the default Shiva Blue just doesn't mesh with my purple au ra.
I actually like a lot of the tank gear but probably because it's IC for Imry. Most comfortable when impervious to most physical forms of attack and all. :p I have a hard time finding helmets I like, though, so I tend to go for the tiara headpieces or nothing at all. I would argue bard gets the best glam options but then i am a bit biased. DRG seems to get mostly off-brand tank gear, lmao.
