Kinda curious what everyone's picks are for their favourite music in the game. Mine is definitely Upon the Rocks, but honorable mentions go out to Equilibrium, Good King Moggle Mog XII, Exponential Entropy and Quicksand. There's too many great tracks in this game, I could probably go on forever... but I'll leave it at five. Worst track? Whatever the normal mode of Great Gubal Library is called. It's like... elevator music or something. Was not a fan. Spoiler: youtubes
I once discovered a one hour mix of equilibrium and then realized I had already had it playing for an hour. I like the primal music in general.
I actually sorta like the Gubal theme but it may be because after Xillia 2, where the composer attempted smooth jazz and failed MISERABLY, anything is better. That said my actual favs are probably the T9 boss theme (the whole thing, not just Rise of the White Raven. Apparently the first part is called "Tempest"), Unbreakable (Fractal Continuum), and the most recent dungeon boss theme. (apparently it's called Revenge Twofold) (And s/o to the Coerthas Western Highlands battle remix that plays in PotD sometimes. Which after a long time of searching i discovered...is the dueling music. :o) Also the original version of Answers still gives me chills. :> Edit: ...ok also Footsteps in the Snow/Oblivion(Shiva) and Brute Justice's theme both have me bouncing around in my seat headbanging whenever I get them in roulettes, lol. I love how they make music sync up w/ boss phase transitions in this game, it's sooo good. Also: during Final Steps of Faith, esp last phase, if you're not phase pushing, it syncs up with some of Nidhogg's attacks. Esp Akh Morn, which is chilling.... Spoiler: vids. adding to say SPOILERS for some endgame boss fights (Coil Spoilers in this btw) (the part that comes in at around 3:30 is just. *CLENCHES FIST*)
Spoiler: ARR MSQ spoilers circa level 35 Goddamnit guys, I go away for *five minutes* to fight Titan and everybody gets kidnapped or killed. Still :( over the poor sylph.
Oh, I almost completely forgot about the Ishgard city themes! They're super great also. I think I like Night in the Brume the most out of the four, though. I'd probably rate it higher than Quicksand, tbh. I love idling in Ishgard for this reason. The night themes especially are calming as fuck. Spoiler Edit: JFC I just found out what Equilibrium is actually about. Such a nice song yet its subject matter is fucked up. I should've known.
I don't remember most of the non-fight music particularly well, apart from Haukke HM (several hard mode dungeons, actually, i had forgotten they used it for more than just Haukke) which is excellent both in and out of combat. My favorite combat themes are the Garlean leader theme "Steel Reason" with that beautiful electric guitar, the first phase of Leviathan "Wreck to the Seaman" with all the pounding drums, and both phases of Ravana. Spoiler
Ravana's theme is soooo gooood. I know some people hate it but like. It sounds like George Takei is singing it. I couldn't hate it even if i wanted to.
I can't get enough of phase 2 Ravana, it's amazing. Spoiler: unukalhai's backstory Are we sure this kid isn't voidsent given his backstory? Pretty sure that face was taken from my darkest nightmares. Ugh. Horrible. Thankfully Elidibus taught him the secrets of wearing a mask full-time. I can't get over how scary this kid looks.
... see I find him adorable and want to face squish him. Most of the reason he looks ominous is because ALL WHITE ALL THE TIME.
I'm sill puttering around with ARR levelling content, might get expansions once they're in a discount bundle.
Probably by the time I am done with ARR stuff, both expansions will be available in a discount bundle.
Spoiler: holy crap I can't believe this is a pose. I love it. God's in His heaven, all's right with the world. Btw if anyone wants me to draw a ff14 minion for them, feel free to request! There's a list of them here. I've done Littlefoot and Wind-up Ifrit so far. Edit: As long as it's not Calca. Fuck those creepy-ass dolls.
It's a good thing I wasn't drinking anything or I would have spit it out. The glasses are perfect... Ooh. Could I request the Unicolt? It's so cute...
Spoiler: a bit of griping about the playerbase I will say this game has one of the nicest mmo communities I've encountered overall, but man, the bad apples really love to ruin it for everyone. Really trying to work on boosting my tanking courage to counteract all the godawful tanks I've gotten this week. And I've been tanking since I started playing! But the "pull big or go home" attitude really messes with me. Esp because people are trying to keep it up with the new ex roulette and...it's really not possible for most people unless you're fully melded and then some. Both tank AND healer. The first pull of Baelsar is esp brutal on healers, and the whole dungeon is hard on paladins having no decent crowd control. Guess which class I have to run to get credit for my final anima step? Yeah. S/o to the jerk tanks I encountered this week: -The WAR who kept impatiently pulling the bosses in Weeping City and then sat in DPS stance and let them chew on the healers until the other tank and I caught on -both tanks in my alt's run of Castrum who were too busy with their epeen measuring contest of who could pull the boss off the other to pick up the adds, so I died from healing them once, and who brushed me off when I pointed it out to them -honorary mention to the bard in Labyrinth of the Ancients who would snipe the bosses and then run out of the arena, causing people to mill around in confusion and usually resulting in half the raid getting locked out (Also he kept erasing waymarks on the final boss and replacing them with different ones as i tried to explain the pad mechanic to newbies) Congrats: you're all douchebags
also god I'm listening to the alex themes again and so help me there's one line in locus that I can't hear as anything but "toupees, toupees, electricity."
