I've noticed since starting to level gathering that people seem to love hassling fishers for some reason. I guess because they know you're not afk? But seriously, what is it about fishing that makes people think "clearly this person wants me to talk dirty to them!" Imry is max height/muscle and no boob but I have gotten some weird tells. One guy asked me to marry him???
I powered through *all* the Discount Lion's Arch lowbie content in a few hours to get Marauder to 17, so I could unlock Dragoon. I am so ready to move on from lowbie content. Current levels: Archer/Bard 46, Pugilist/Monk 35, Lancer/Dragoon 32, Gladiator 23. Crafty/gathery stuff mostly in the 30-35 range. Main story quest has taken me to Mor Dohna. (I passed by the guy who gives out the glamour unlock quest, but alas, level 50 only.) Achieved rank of Serpent Chief Sergeant with the Twin Adders. Still having fun chewing through the content and doing Levelling Roulette about every day.
Getting any secondary class to 15 isn't that bad. I'm grudgingly doing so with pugilist at the moment so that I can has bard.
I just did that with all the crafting classes. Feels like 1-15 passes by in a flash for combat, but crafting took a lot longer than I was expecting, even with being able to buy all the shit you need off the NPCs. Now I begin my journey getting culinarian to 37/50 so I can do my moogle quests on it, rather than wasting it on my LTW (who is already 60). Bluh. BLUH. Also fuck culinarian and how much space it takes up in your inventory. It's awful. The only upside is that now my retainers have some more space since I was able to use a bunch of items I had saved on them on this. Also is there some secret to leveling gathering? It's really fucking boring and I'd rather use my leves on tradecraft.
Leves are p much the best way to level gathering, otherwise you can grind stuff that sells well (ores, etc, stuff that makes base mats crafters will use tons of like flax or logs, or shards and crystals, tho the last 2 give you crap exp.) Buy the Survival Manual 2 from your GC with seals. Also the friendship circlet will give you exp boost to 25 if you have it. (The newbie ring only works for battle classes sadly.) Pile on food and FC buffs if you can. They all stack. If you're planning on doing culinarian desynth, that's a good way to make sure your inventory doesn't fill up with fish, and you can get some cool things at higher levels. Edit: food that boosts Perception for gathering and Control for crafting is good because HQ stuff=more exp.
see I'm the reverse, 1-15 crafting is nothing (I'm damn near doing six classes of it in two days), but I did it for pugilist and that was a huge drag by comparison. of course it's a LOT easier to level all your crafting at once, I am discovering...

You have ALL THE PATCHES between 2.0 and 3.0 to get through first, but they're a lot smoother ride than ARR. Figure two group instances every patch, since you have a primal for the first three + having to do the Hard Modes of the ARR primals before 2.4, then 2.4 is a dungeon and a primal, 2.5 is a dungeon and a trial, and then 2.55 is a trial and "basically you're going to watch a movie now." Think there's a solo instance or two scattered in there as well, but there's a lot of content in 2.x and that's not even counting the raid storylines.
