Man I feel bad because I have just been sitting at 59 for about a month and can't bring myself to log in.. I do like this game a lot but I think I will be fairly 'play for a few months, quit for a few months' about it. Maybe I'll at least try to hit 60, but I think if WoW goes on sale around Thanksgiving I'll pick up a copy of that for me and my partner. It's just an easier game for me to mindlessly play, while FF14 has given me anxiety attacks even in the basic leveling dungeons.
Just...yeah. and I thought the stuff after Titan was heavy, but this was a 2 hour flaming rollercoaster wreck. And I loved it. But I'm also like. I can't even describe it...almost heartsore. 8( it was so intense. I just want Haurchefant to hand me endless mugs of hot cocoa while I sit in front of his fireplace in a pile of blankets and cry. Spoiler: actual spoilers Poor Moenbryda. Poor Wilred. Poor Alianne...though she could still be alive...but that's doubtful at this point. I am SO MAD at Laurentius, possibly more so than even Ilberd or Lolorito, because he was given a chance and then threw it away. I still want to punch Ilberd in the dick tho, he used the same excuse as Eline for being a douche and it pissed me off. NANAMO. 8( RAUBAHN....8( Merlwyb and Kan-E-Senna just leaving him...kinda shocked me, but I know they're both v practical and Kan-E-Senna at least probably feels super fucked up about it but geez. Pipin taking off his helmet made me giggle a bit because of his magnificent hair that he somehow stuffed up underneath... "I am always happy to see Cid, but I have NEVER BEEN HAPPIER TO SEE CID" -> actual words spoken aloud when he showed up. I wanted to hug him. Scions being badasses but also doing the Gandalf thing...seriously guys cut that out. Plz stay alive. I'm gonna slow down a bit and explore the new areas more leisurely now, since we were doing a dungeon or two every day for a week to get here and I'm a little tired. @_@
@Aniseed forgive me if I've said some of this bf because my memory is not great. Is it the social/community aspect that's bugging you? Because I do feel that servers have their own...culture, so to speak. Balmung is very...it's got a high population, many of which are legacy/RPers, so you have a lot of people running alts or doing roulettes that have done the content so many times they just zerg/burn it and don't give a fuck. That can be just as stressful as being expected to know everything ahead of time (attitude on Tonberry.) I find Adamantoise WAY more laid-back. People are more likely to be patient/hand out advice if you say it's your first run. Because it's smaller there's plenty of newbies running around, so I find it a lot more relaxed. A lot of FCs advertising helping new players too. My offer to help w dungeons still stands as well! Honestly I have a lot of anxiety over them and my partner even moreso, but we've both gotten better from playing w chiller people.
I -think- dungeons through the duty finder are cross-server at least to some degree.. it might prioritize people you share a server with but I'm pretty sure I've played with people on other servers before. The dungeons are just a steeper learning curve and people have minimal patience most of the time. I just always feel like the weak link in a dungeon and like it's irritating to people, and people have criticized me before while I already feel insecure with my own skill, so it does just make things not very fun at all.
Huh, I didn't think they were cross server at all, I didn't realize that was possible. I am totally willing to do underparty and run you through lower lvl stuff so you can get a hang of mechanics, A and I do it by ourselves all the time. Though if you're lvl 59, you're way ahead of us...But I get if you want to take a break as well. Dungeons do tend to have a pattern to them, most of them have the two miniboss-one big boss thing going, and each miniboss has a mechanic to learn basically. But a lot of the stuff is hard to figure out unless you look it up beforehand (which is what I do) ....I wish I had a better answer, honestly. Edit: also, guildhests are like hand-holding mini dungeons and they give you an EXP bonus every time you do them on a new class. I wish I knew about THAT ages ago.
...I stumbled across a blog that translates the Japanese version and compares it to the localization and apparently...Haurchefant more or less asks the PC if they want to sleep with him AT LEAST THREE TIMES. And they cut this out in the English version because why??? He hits on you regardless of gender? I'm sad. He also talks about your muscles a lot, apparently. Meanwhile there are multiple instances where the localization inserts sexual/rapey stuff where it does not exist in the original. Gahhh. (that's not to say it doesn't exist in the original at all, but why do we need more....)

They noted that in Japanese he switches between "business mode" and "obsessing over you" really quickly whereas in the English version its sorta smoothed over. Then of course there's the old New Years event I watched on Youtube where he...asks you to become his steed...I can't make this up. Its extra funny to me whenever anyone talks about the Warrior of Light being stoic because my Imry is...the opposite, so it comes across as sarcasm. Aww, thanks. :D I forgot to mention I got my full Ironworks gear after 3.1 hit and the prices dropped...and god, it just looks so awesome. I love it. I just need the weapon now. My one issue with it is that I had to swap the chestpiece out for the end of 2.55 cutscenes because Imry's face kept clipping through the neck part and it messed up my screenshots. :( But otherwise it's pretty sweet. God i feel like I'm spamming this thread but I love this game too much. /headdesk I am also now officially lvl 50 on my Balmung alt, just need to run Meridianum/Praetorium and unlock all the HM dungeons and Hunts. I was pleased to discover that one of the new short hairstyles is available for all genders; I was a bit bummed when it looked like they were all dudes only. Also it looks REALLY GOOD on Nennali...I might change it...I can't decide. She currently has that bob hairstyle, which is a holdover from when I played her on Dungeons&Dragons Online (she started life as a Drow). So, probably time for a makeover. I am so glad to have my LVL 50 WHM gear because I spent 45-49 running around w no pants on. I mean, infiltrating Castrum Centri like: Spoiler: Also spoilers/thoughts on Dark Knight Hanging out w Fray, who is probably eating my soul at this moment, but we're cool. INTERESTINGLY, if you play a female character and read your quest log, the description starts out referring to Fray as "he" and then switches to "she" once they meet you. HMMMMMMMMMMM.
Did my first Labyrinth/Syrcus Tower/World of Darkness with my Balmung FC today! It was lots of fun and the music was sooo gooooddd. (i think its mostly FF3 remixes, but yes, amazing) I did die a lot adjusting to the mechanics, to my embarrassment, but luckily we didn't have any wipes. I did have to skip a bunch of cutscenes to keep up so I have to go back and watch them properly. Spoiler: everything is so SHINY EDIT: I love how everyone is all dressed up in their fancy glamours and then there's the one guy in leopard print underwear. Ahhh, this game. :D
Just...finished the Vault...I am emotionally compromised Spoiler: SAD FACES Time for an Important Haircut. Spoiler: stupid rp babbling, spoilers Since partner and I play together, we rp our characters as BFFs and also fellow Warriors of Light. Akiv'a (A's catboy) is a healer and a craftaholic, so earlier on he actually took and fixed Louisoix's staff after the massacre at Waking Sands. We did not realize how relevant this would be, but he was able to use it to channel the fuck out of everyone's aether in order to heal Haurchefant, so he lived. (barely) But in the context of the game there is only one WoL (you) so in that "AU", for each of them, without the support of the other it would be devastating. So, Imry would cut off her hair and leave it to be buried with him, because she couldn't think of anything else to give him. :( This whole thing really fucked the fandom up, man.
