I actually stopped in the middle of the cutscene to cry a little, not going to lie. Then I cried again Spoiler when you go back to the manor to see his dad. Spoiler: some dialogue differences, spoilers I feel like noting that Aymeric's line "Some wounds do not heal" in Japanese was more like "Compared to Haurchefant's loss, the pain of my wounds is nothing." OUCH. When that Echo flashback revealed that Aymeric was tortured to reveal who else knew the truth I put up the middle finger of both hands and started waving them at the screen. My friend finally finished putting the new parts in my desktop computer. I've been using the same shitty laptop for over a year now. Needless to say, I left it running overnight to install the game and now I'm playing it and it is GLORIOUS. My FPS jumped from 19 to 57. I cranked up the graphics as high as possible and my eyes kinda hurt but it's amazing. (they're still adjusting to how SMOOTH the movement is.) brings the discussion here a little belatedly - I can't really PC game, trying to navigate things with a keyboard is unfriendly to my brain in large part because the sides controls are on is usually swapped from consoles? Console games are move-with-left-hand, do-things-with-right, and PC games you're usually looking at the opposite. :l it just doesn't work for me very well and trying to rearrange button functions is a MASSIVE asspain.
Well, if it's an option for you, I know people who play on PC with a controller plugged into it. :o I know @Akiv'a specifically uses a controller for Chocobo Racing.
You can use a regular PS3 controller, afaik? There shouldn't be a problem there. EDIT: also default movement is WASD.
Not on Windows that I've ever managed? You need a 360 controller. Hmm. My PS3 is currently a brick but the controller still works fine... [/considering face] Also I'm backreading the thread and Spoiler: Cut for discussion of Livia I should note that Livia is the OTHER FF14 we have in our panfandom and her player approaches the issues re: her backstory with the full seriousness they deserve, and getting her out of that kind of mindset has been much of her character arc in the RP. I'm not surprised to see Kintsugi approaching the issue but also very glad to see the way ya'll talked about it.

I will admit she struck me as "generic axe-crazy lady villain in love w/ boss" at first but the more I saw her interactions w/ Gaius I was like holy shit...the abuse victim vibes. Spoiler: Story spoilers Culminating with her screaming at you during her boss fight that you're not going to take anything else away from her. Hold that up to her backstory as a war orphan and being separated from her only surviving family member (her sister)... Rhitahtyn was also clearly brainwashed by Gaius, since he seemed unable to accept that the Empire claiming to "keep peace" in their conquered territories was a big fucking lie. I have strong feeling about Gaius as a villain b/c so many people think he's a noble antagonist and had the "right idea" but even putting aside the possible "well-intentioned extremist" interpretation, his personal relationships...I'd be willing to bet he purposefully cultivated Nero's inferiority complex. Cid was a smart cookie for getting the hell out of there. And standing his ground when Gaius tries to get him back later. Is this rp in a Dreamwidth game? I am now curious.
