Fair enough. I discounted Sacred Stones because it has grinding, and I discounted the games prior to Blazing Sword that never got an english translation, because Seebs didn't mention ROMs. But it could have been Blazing Sword. Also, it's Radiant Dawn that gets a reputation for being hard for whatever reason, so I was kind of riffing on that? (Also, as hard as Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn is, Titania's not that much of a Jeigan. She's can actually be a viable option for late-game. And there's the Bonus Exp function. But overuse of Marcus in Blazing Sword? Yeah, that'll mess up your game.)
Radiant Dawn got a bad rep for being overly hard because they mistranslated/renamed the difficulty levels. In the original Japanese they’re normal/hard/expert (or lunatic, not sure) but they got marked as easy/normal/hard for the American English release.
Unrelatedly Spoiler: Contextless Spoilers for Three Houses Golden Deer Route Dubstep? Giant mecha? In MY Fire Emblem? That is fucking amazing.
I didn’t mean to sound mad at you, I was just explaining why exactly it gets so much shit. That and the frequent perspective/team changes. Sorry about that.
No worries. I don't think the UK/EUR version had that issue, though, so the meme about RD being one of the hardest games in the series has always confused me, since it's actually the first one I managed to complete. The perspective changes were still a pain, though. Not to mention the sheer volume of characters.
Of the same-sex romance options in Three Houses, three of them are members of the Black Eagles. Black Eagles is officially the gay house.
I have no idea how much I'm screwing things up by not aggressively recruiting everyone I can from other houses, etc.
You really don't have to worry about it- the roster you can take into fights stays pretty solidly around 11, and the game is balanced upon you levelling the same set of characters up instead of trying to keep a wide group at a competitive level. If you are playing as a lady then you can get Sylvain for free no matter your house because he's a fuckboy. Other then that if you want suggestions for a few to focus on Lysithia is murder incarnate, Ingrid is the best tank in the game if her stats go well and one of the only characters really set up to be a flyer, and Felix is apparently a death machine, but really each house should have a good variety of roles. I guess if you're playing Ironman Classic (actually letting people die instead of just treating it as an extra fail state) you'd want a wide variety of characters but honestly thats basically a nuzlocke challenge.
Yeah. I'm really confused; I set it to the "people get up again after fights" mode, but then when I was actually playing, I noticed a thing on the battle menu: "return", which restarts the fight, restoring item durability and used items and dead characters, but keeping levels. I discovered this because I got to a fight I wasn't doing well at, and... just retried a few times until we started winning it. Okay. I don't actually even object, but it sure does not fit my conception of the series as relatively unforgiving.
Cowards: f!byleth shpuld dress more like m!byleth Me, an intellectual: m!byleth should dress more like f!byleth
I actually like fByleth's outfit. Still an improvement over either Corrin, imo. (Like, is that armour or isn't it? where the fuck are their shoes? How does mCorrin's default hair go like that?)
I am fine with the female mc's outfit but I'd prefer the male outfit on her and also smaller tits. Way smaller. I got boobs that big irl I don't need them in a game too. I am fine with the design overall though. Sometimes I get weirded out by her blank stare though. The dude's got that issue too but like. God damn her dead eyed stare is something else. Renamed her Uallach after one of the old chief ollamhs of Ireland. Seemed a fitting choice for a character with authority that isn't a king that turns the tide of battles in a setting named after one of Ireland's poetry names. I am kind of weirded out by the fact that they added an n to it though. Apparently that's just in the English version? The Japanese it's Fódla like what the name actually is. Not sure why they stuck an n in there. Also I get grumbly about some of the pronunciations but eh. I'm just happy that names like Enbarr are showing up. I'm playing on classic normal because I can't imagine not playing a Fire Emblem on classic. I've lived through having to reset these games for so long that I'm not able to give that up. It's just not the same experience without the game fucking you over at times and forcing a reset. This sounds miserable perhaps but I'm a creature of habit. I hate changes to things. I'm oddly fine with the changes Three Houses has made though. Granted, I guess I view them more as extensions of some of the stuff I liked in games like Sacred Stones than as changes proper. Casual mode is a change proper and I don't like that. I had started out picking Claude but early in I was like 'I cannot stand not romancing the same sex lord,' so I jumped ship immediately to Edelgard. Right at the doorstep of mission two now. So it's very early goings.
I don't even fuckin go here but I'm so emotionally compromised that I'm halfway through the first fanfic I've tried to write since Mass Effect 2 :'3
