I was the only kid in my neighborhood who didn't like Oasis. I thought Green Day was superior.

I was so lonely. And so right.

(Please don't hurt me if you're an Oasis fan, I can't take any more.)

 

What's pretty amusing to me is I remember a French webcomic I used to read that had a character who was an Oasis fan, and it was a running gag that the band was pretty obscure and no one liked them.

 

Tbh i like that version better than the normal one anyway?

 

Oasis was huuuuuuge here. Wonderwall was their breakthrough hit on a very successful album that I could probably even remember the name of if I sat and thought a while. They got constant radio play during a time when probably the majority of people still discovered most of their music through broadcast media. Like they got played so often even fans started getting sick of it.

 

random thing i occasionally remember: idk if you know about Coleman Hell, he had a hit indie pop/rock song in like 2014-2015 called two heads.

turns out uh that's just his name? I thought coleman hell was a stage name or a band name... his dad's last name is also Hell

I had some moments of 'i lived in the right region and am the right age to have heard wonderwall a bunch why don't i know this song at all' and then people mentioned it being on the radio and i remembered.
through my whole childhood the only time we listened to the radio was in the car, and it was never ever ever tuned into anything but the contemporary christian channel

 

like my version of nostalgic radio memes is 'hey anyone else notice how the guy who sings that 'how great is our god' song doesnt enunciate his end consonants enough so the song turns into how gray is our gaa?'
or like. anyone else remember that song where a dude just sang about 'hey guys what if cartoons were overtly christian' and sang hallelujah in a bunch of character impressions. that song played a bunch when i was in like elementary school and then completely disappeared

 

Come on, guys, don't be cheap, post the real version.

 

There was an article in the paper today about a man from Aurora who is recovering from locked-in syndrome. That's pretty neat.
