HEY GUYS FUN HOMESTUCK FACT/LATIN LESSON.

"Lusus naturae" means "freak/joke of nature." Make of that what you will, headcanon-wise.

Also the actual Latin plural of "lusus" is...just "lusus," because it's fifth (I think?) declension and the -i ending is first declension, with -us being the fifth (?) declension plural in addition to being the first AND fifth (?) declension singular.

Latin is fucking weird.

 

Fourth declension, and interestingly,-i is also the first declension's genitive, meaning the -s/-'s issue was also kind of a thing in Latin I guess.
